Is the Governing Body EVIL or IGNORANT?

  I would like to mention something else . A person does not have to act like a a**hole to be evil. Example the serial killer Ted Bundy was by all accounts a nice looking well mannered great guy to be around. In fact, he used his natural charm to lure his victims.

  Now, for just one Watchtower example: A brother we know is easy going, funny, hospitable, loves people. He love to travel and entertain. he takes intrest in kids and frequently has get togethers at his house. He's handsome and comfortable in his own skin but doesn't mind making fun of himself. If we were stranded on a desert island HE's the guy we'd pick to join us. EXCEPT.......

  Just one pesky problem though. He's a certified pedophile. The twist is, he and his wife filmed the heinous acts with the children and sold the porn for BIG BUCKS. Right before his criminal trial, the man he had hired to perform the sex acts "committed suicide". (yeah right) Without the starr witness, he got off. He soon moved to a different town and lo and behold, his wife, the professional photographer, mysteriously died of an "Asthma attack".(yeah right)

  Nice guys aren't always nice. Sometimes they do evil things.

  Cedars, I think that you will find the answer if you ask yourself, "Was I evil 24 months ago, when still actively a JW?"

  I think the GB are in the same position. They have been indoctrinated for decades, the same way any of us were. They may even have doubts. But they all feel that even if the organisation is not perfect, it is the best out there. They dismiss the imperfections by referring to Moses or Peter, who also made many mistakes, but were still used by God.

  To get on the Governing Body does require a certain personality. They are similar to the personality of a CEO or politician that requires a degree of egotism, love of power and charisma to get to that position.

  I knew Geoff quite well and he was a really nice person. But he also was a showman that loved the spotlight. When he first became a GB member he was in awe of the other members. I imagine by now he is more realisitic about the flaws of the system. But it is unlikely that he will give up the power and attention, when he knows of nothing better out there, having been raised a JW. Cognitive Dissonance for a GB member is going to be even stronger than for the "rank and file" since they have the most to lose.

  Great observation and a fresh angle to look from. I would put it this way. Those on the GB today got there by being good subordanants who worked their way up. To ask for a show of "courage" or humble examination of the organizations history is obviously the last thing in the world they would entertain. I think of the WTB&TS as an organism that has one purpose, to keep itself alive and growing.

  The GB is a the top WTparasite- feeding off all the stooge JWs under them-

  If one reflects on the history of the WTS. one can clearly see the potentiality of harm when certain ignorance gets propagated

  openly to the public through published works. The evil or harmful part of this organization appeared when the perceived power

  of the organization was realized by prominent people such as J Rutherford. Postulated doctrines concerning blood transfusions,

  disfellowshipping, birthday celebrations, Christmas celebrations all evolved through a continual gaining amount of power and control

  built up by the hierarchal leadership of the organization.

  When power comes into men's hands they usually embraced it as a means to evaluate their own perceived self identity.

  When ignorance is substantiated through a willing progression of structured power, harm usually is the unfortunate end result

  The Ray Franz quote about them being victims was true at the time. But once the book was written their blinders were off. And with all the information on the internet today and the court cases piling up the governing body can no longer claim ignorance. They are evil and willfully so!

  Usually both things go hand in hand. The end result is the same anyway, they are evil in my opinion, because unlike the rest of us when we were in, they have information about the workings of the organization that none of us had at the time.

  I know many here do not feel the Bible is inspired, or even a great history book, but we have all read it.....and we must admit reading it reminds us....people are people. I always found it weird how WTBTS yacked about "the spiritual Paradise we were all in" - I never saw it, and I have been in a dozen halls. The Isrealites WERE supposidly "Gods people", yet the majority of the Bible is a history of screw ups and EVIL kings.Whistle blowers and reformers are a rare breed. Those who stood up for right were rare....so rare that in thousands of years of human history those who survive the initial attempts at execution are memorialized. Out of all the past members of the governing body only Ray tried to effect major change....and at first he tried to just quietly fade away. He only wrote his whistle blowing works after he was hunted down, cornered and disfellowshipped.

  These guys took the job. They have looked behind the curtain. More is expected of them. They SHOULD BE AN EXAMPLE OF A HIGHER MORAL STANDARD. They are actively PROTECTING Pedophiles, inflicting emotional distress on Children, teaching hate, and perpetuating the abuse of women and seniors.

  They are EVIL
