“exterminate Jehovah's Witnesses as an organization” as in dissolving the organizing principle, not killing the people.

If they meant killing the people, they would have said, “exterminate Jehovah's Witnesses.”

It might sound like a strange question in Western liberal democracies. But the magazines are published worldwide. Not so irrelevant in places like Georgia and Russia, not to mention Arab and other countries under ban.

    Great comments all. . .

First off, who the hell seriously uses the expression "to hatch a plot." It sounds like something Dr Evil would do, it's comical really. They used the same expression in the WT study yesterday as well- had o chuckle reading that. Just plain goofball writing.

I agree that this question gives the impression of some special "inside knowledge" that only the GB have, behind-the-scenes stuff that plays into the paranoic worldview they have created for their followers. Little does the average publisher know that "behind-the-scenes" the GB is conspiring with branches of the UN such as the OSCE in order to spread their worldview product into less-than-cult-friendly corners of Europe right along other American brands like the Church of Scientology.

LOL BOC, I was thinking the same thing. Inspector Clouseau is their idol.

Notice how they don't answer the question directly with their so-called evidence...

    What if a powerful government
were to hatch a plot to exterminate Jehovah’s
    Witnesses as an organization?

Many men in modern times have attempted
to do just that but have failed.

So they misdirect their theoretical question by answering it with a different group. "Men" is very different from "powerful governments" Yet in the mind of the average R&F JW, they will have their persuction complex reinforced with the idea that "powerful governments" are after them.

    Slick work, WT writer.

    Well...the government would be powerful.

The JW org. is clearly not powerful.

    Why ask?

To that question I say, "so what if they hatch a plot, unless they act on it it's nothing; and besides isn't jayhoover supposed to be able to protect his people and not let them be exterminated?" That is unless the borg feels jayhoover can no longer protect their/his organization! UH-OH

'First off, who the hell seriously uses the expression "to hatch a plot."'

Maybe the first draft was something like this...

"What if a powerful government were to drop a load on Jehovah's Witnesses as an organization?"

What if a powerful government were to hatch a plot to exterminate Jehovah’s Witnesses as an organization? Many men in modern times have attempted to do just that but have failed.

It reinforces two ideas: first, that JW's are persecuted, but, powerfully, second...Jehovah's Witnesses are invincible. Men have tried but failed, therefore JW's are of God, jehovah will protect his own, they can't stop us!

It reinforces collective power mania, collective insanity, which is what I am more and more sure the WT suffers from.
