L'Auberge, Sedona, AZ. We got an upgrade to a creekside cottage, and it was really the most beautiful place. Outside showers on the porch, chairs by the creek with a fresh newspaper and coffee right at the water's edge. Go there if you ever get a chance.

Fancy enough for me also is the Venetian/Palazzo in Vegas. All rooms are suites, and really beautiful.

What do you mean by nicest? Most ostentatious would be the ill named China World in Beijing. I couldn't walk more than 3 feet without someone asking me if I needed anything.

The Clift Hotel in San Francisco. Stayed there 37 years ago on our honeymoon and went back for our 25th. The Hotel bar called The Redwood Room is one of the classics of old style San Francisco.

Grand Hotel, Stockholm. Fortunately my Dad picked up the tab for all of us (me and my wife, two siblings and their spouses). It was, shall we say, spendy.

I had a suite at the four seasons, yorkville back in the late '80s. It was nice, but to be honest I prefer camping.
