Terrible conduct by congregation Elders in hospital room !

  My uncle left no will. He didn't believe in wills. The WTS promised him that the ''new order'' was always around the corner. He passed away after serving Jehovah the Watchtower Society close to 50 years.

  Who knows?.. they could be talking about property issues, how they can turn your grandfather's assets into $$$ for the WT$ and they didnt want your cousin to interfere.

  I would not have left if it were me, i am in support of making news out of this, contact your local news paper and spread the stupidity that exist in the WT$. Who knows how many people you would be saving out there with similar situations.

  At the end of it all the person who really counts in all of this is your Uncle and allowing him to pass from this life with dignity and in peace. Although what the elders did showed a lack of compassion and respect for the family, your cousin did the right thing not to make a huge fuss on this occasion. If your uncle took comfort from their presence and the prayer they offered then this is the most important thing at this time.

  In future I would take the initiative and request that people who are non family have to wait in the lounge for a member of the family to escort them to the room. This allows for any confrontations to be managed away from the room of the dying person and the family members to make it plain that the purpose of the elders is to comfort the one passing and not to use it as an occasion to punnish those who believe differently.

  If the elders feel that they cannot comply with this simple request then their visit should be declined and they should be escorted off of the ward with instructions that they are unwelcome if they return. After all when the people come back in the resurrection the elders will have ample time to instruct them regarding appropriate boundaries with Df'd ones.

  First of all I am so sorry your Uncle is having to go through so much pain..I hope it goes easy for him. My heart goes out to you!

  And I'm not surprised about the actions of the witnesses,..they only wanted to pray because so many were there (in my opinion) ..they like to put up a front. When my hubby was in hospital and got his 6 month to live speech from the doctors..the laison committee moved in..they came to visit but no one offered to say a prayer for my hubby..I am disassociated but not disfellowshipped. I had to ask them to say a prayer..they finally said a short one. Then when he was at home in his last days 2 witnesses (brothers) came to visit(their one visit) ..again no prayer..my hubby was in good standing just not as active as they would have liked in earlier days..they acted like it ws to late to pray as he was already dying..they actually looked at me like I was crazy when I asked them to say a prayer.He loved his religion and I thought it would give him strength to face his dying. If hubby wasn't so sick I would have liked to slap the silly right off their stupid faces..

  i must be missing something with all this prayer thing. what were they praying for? divine intervention to hopefully keep the person referred to alive? hardly likely -is it?

  or is there somthing not quite the full ticket about all this resurrection business. isnt the person involved guaranteed a resurrection anyway?--if you choose to believe in all that.

  so--why the need to pray?--isnt this all vaguely religious?

  Those Elders must be very arrogant idiots to do something like that. Not Suprising. Quite a few of them are Uneducated D*ckwads! There are some Elder's that would have used more tact because they are respectful of the situation.
