Dear rules and regulations: I am so sorry about the way your cousin was treated but rest assured your uncle knew he was there, that he loved his nephew and that God saw it all. Several years ago my husband who has never been a JW ( and never will be) and I were visiting my Mom. Her brother stopped by ( he has been an elder forever) and he refused to acknowlege my husband even when he extended his hand to my uncle. It was as though he was invisable. Great witness hu??? JW's spend bokque hours banging on doors but they won't extend a hand to those that are not in the cult. I wonder WWJD?? Love and Light Harleybear and ridin free

RandR---It is completely reprehensible behavior by the elders. I am so sorry that your cousin, and your grandfather were treated so callously. It is very sad that they were able to force your cousin from the room. Prideful, arrogant b*st*rds.

    Sizemik----- I'm with you!

Designs---- I like the idea of submitting the story to the newspaper! People should know.

Minimus: If I have read right on JWN,you were a former Elder. How did you act when you were face to face with a disfellowshipped member at a wedding, funeral, restaurant, hospital,or workplace? Did you shake their hand, pat them on the back, talk to them or avoided them at all costs?

I think these Elders (who asked my cousin to leave the room) thought that this was not a congregation matter where he could listen to the prayer . Maybe, these self-righteous Elders thought that their prayer was a private and spiritual matter and that it was no big deal to ask him to leave.

Its religion in general. It makes good people do and think horrible and stupid things. It blocks common sense and decency.

If that elder had said anything like that to one of MY family members I would have kicked in his ass and made him into the hospital's newest patient. What an ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!

One big thing to remember, THEY HAVE NO POWER unles you give it to them. What balls they have ordering family members around. THEY should have been asked to leave and to kiss my big white ass.

RULES & REGULATIONS- This is bad, really bad and unethical , inhumane conduct by these elders. I'm sorry you had to observe this and your relative being treated horribly and asked to leave the room.

If that had been me in the room I would have told the elders to leave the room right then and there. And if they did not I swear on 100 Bibles I'd simultaneously have grabbed all 3 elders by their fuc%ing shirt collars and shoved them out of the room just by my 210 pounds and sheer adrenalin. With a swift kick to the nuts to any of them that resisted. And while I was doing that ask Mrs. Flipper to call hospital security ! But she'd probably be helping me physically escort them out of the room . I swear to gawd- this cult has to die with cowardly creeps like this bulldozing families

    1 Corinthians 13

1 If I speak in the tongues [a] of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, [b] but do not have love, I gain nothing.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

    8 Love never fails.

Well, those elders have a lot of religion in then and NOT the love of the Father. This weekend I heard a Christian pastor talking about God as Love. We tend to apply 1 corinthias 13:4 to us humans but if God is Love, then God is patient, God is kind, God does not envy ... God is not self-seeking ... totally different perspective from what I've learned in the past from JWs ... I also heard the story of the Prodigal Son and how the emphasis has been put on the son, again on humans, but if you read the story, the story is about "There was a man who had two sons", is not about the son, it is about the man, and how that story should be called The Prodigal Father ... I am a Christian now so this makes sense to me, anyway, it saddens me that EX-JWS let the Elders treat them like that ... funny that this weekend also JWs came knocking on my door, a man and his daughter, He was trying to sell the "Organization" to me ... LOL ... LOL ... really LOL !!! For his daughter's sake I went through the laundry list of issues with their CORPORATION ... I didn't tell him I spent 40 years with them ... I could see the smile on his daugter's face ... she was about 12 ... anyway he also had the latest issue of a magazine with ARMAGEDON cover ... I am thinking the difference between preaching God's love, grace, forgiveness of sin, Good News for everybody that accepts Jesus, and the JW message of ARMAGEDON ... towards the end I told him that as Christians we need to live as if Jesus is coming back today (not armageddon) but plan faithfully for the future, our goal is for Jesus to find us faithful today, tomorrow or still faithful in our death bed
