Yes, use paragraphs. Back to the subject at hand:

If you do NOT make a prophecy of the future and claim that God said it, you CANNOT be a 'false prophet' according to the Bible. The Biblical criteria of a 'false prophet' thus cannot be applied to the WT. PROVE ME WRONG, if you can... Goodbye and thanks for listening :)

They made a prophecy of the future, printed it millions of times, and claimed God said it. "millions now living will never die" "the generation alive and aware of world events in 1914 will see the end of the world" "if you are a school age kid in 1975, you will not live long enough to have kids of your own" - and so on.

A false prophet is one who, according to Deuteronomy, makes a false prediction of the future and claims that the prediction came from God, or in other words claiming that 'God has said he will do a certain thing at a certain time' etc.

Awake magazine masthead thru October 22, 1995:

    Why Awake! is published.
Awake! is for the enlightenment of the entire family. It shows how to cope with today's problems. It reports the news, tells about people in many lands, examines religion and science. But it does more. It probes beneath the surface and points to the real meaning behind current events, yet it always stays politically neutral and does not exalt one race over another.

Most importantly, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.

that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless system of things.

Now what was that you were saying about "false prophets"?

makes a false prediction of the future and claims that the prediction came from God

the Creator's promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.

Well you've convinced me! The Watchower Society is a false prophet!

Thanks ever so much for clearing that up.

I would think that there's more than one way to attain the status of prophet than just a simple declarative statement.

In regard to 1975, the JW organization at one point stated that, "In order for the Lord Jesus Christ to be "Lord even of the sabbath day," his reign would have to be the seventh in a series of thousand year periods or millenniums."

Since Jesus himself is the one that stated that he was "Lord of the sabbath" the honesty of Jesus has now been attached to the prediction as collateral.

That is, in essence exactly what a prophet does when he or she explicitly says, "This is what God has said..." They've set up a situation where either God is lying or they are.

"The Watchtower is NOT a false prophet"

Perfect trolling topic. I see no reason why this thread cannot continue for at least 10 pages, before Christmas.

Harold camping made predictions without saying that he could be wrong. He claimed to be inspired, and he stated them as though it were a fact that they would come true. "Camping has preached that some200 million people would be saved, and that those left behind would die in a series of scourges visiting Earth until the globe is consumed by a fireball on October 21. Family Radio International's message has been broadcast in 61 languages. He has said that his earlier apocalyptic prediction in 1994 didn't come true because of a mathematical error. 'I'm not embarrassed about it. It was just the fact that it was premature,' he told The Associated Press last month. But this time, he said, 'there is ... no possibility that it will not happen'." http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1390268/Rapture-Harold-Camping-explains-wrong--says-God-bring-Rapture-OCTOBER-21.html

Oct 15 1913, pg. 303-307 "The date 1914 is not an arbitrary date; it is merely what the chronology of the Scriptures seems to teach. We have never said positively that the Scriptures do so teach--that the Jewish favor will begin exactly at that time, or that the Gentile times will end exacly at that time. We say that according to the best chronological reckoning of which we are capable, it is approximately that time--whether it be October, 1914, or later."
