NikL: "So what does it say exactly? I haven't read it"

    The Watchtower. July 15, 2011; Page 17:

    Suppose that a doctor

told you to avoid contact with someone who

is infected with a contagious, deadly disease.

You would know what the doctor means,

and you would strictly heed his warning.

    Well, apostates are “mentally diseased,”

and they seek to infect others

    with their disloyal teachings.

    (1 Tim. 6:3, 4) Jehovah, the Great

Physician, tells us to avoid contact

with them. We know what he

means, but are we determined to

heed his warning in all respects?

Gorbatchov: "because they are mentally retarded."

Gorbatchov; they said mentally diseased, which is worse than mentally retarded.

I think the question here is , do they discern a practical problem with apostasy or is this just an egotistical response ('how dare they contradict us as God-Appointed Masters of Time and Space')?

I suspect it is more of an emotional response than anything else. Outright rot and fakery are vastly more of problem than any real apostasy. Apostasy generally requires some sense of thought and literacy - which excludes most Witlesses, who can barely get thru a 'Dick and Jane at the Seashore' Awake magazine - or who (triggering an emetic reaction) refer to any Watchtower as "deep".

Summary: most are too dumb or apathetic to achieve apostasy. The GB need not worry.

    sylvia:

I am in the phone book.

Me too. And my home and cell phone numbers have not changed since I left. Neither has my address.

Oh, that's right, my publisher record, if it even still exists from 2007, is in a congregation in another state, another circuit, about 20 minutes away. I do not live in their territory. The territory that I do live in, I have not attended since 1991. The town that I live in, I have not been a publisher since I left for my MTS assignment in 2002.

Me thinks I fell through the cracks. hooooo raaaaah. If the "Organization" were truly organized, you would think they could find me to encourage and/or DF me. Hell, maybe they DF me in absentia.

Or maybe I just do not care if I am the subject of a JW witch hunt. F 'em
