The Borg is always decades behind the rest of the world.

I recall back in the 1990s, before popup blockers and really good browser software, one could stumble across porn sites or have popup ads from them on occasion. I think the last time that happened to me, though, was around the turn of the century.

"Whether intentionally or not, he might chance upon sexually stimulating scenes." ----- Excuse me? How does anyone unintentionally chance upon sexual explicit material on the net? What planet are these idiots on?

As with all technology, the WTBS as usual is light-years behind. They still are recalling back in the early days of the internet where crazy X-rated gynecological pop-ups would appear all over your screen. Anti-pop up technology and more secure browser technology have cut down on this dramatically. These kinds of popups do exist but honestly only attack your computer if you are ACTIVELY surfing porn. But they still love hawking that god-awful "soliloquy" where the dear brother is working on the talk and checks his laptop only to have naughty-bits spring out of nowhere.

Damn you, Netscape Navigator! Damn you!

    LUNATIC FAITH:

Me and you should shake hands because we have something in common.

I never went out of my way to look sexy and still don't. But, I had an experience similar to yours. Years ago I wore a skirt to a circuit assembly that was a little past my knee and there was a tiny slit in the front center of the skirt. I was confronted at the next meeting and was told that I was looking too suggestive at a circuit assembly because of this skirt. The brother said that somebody next to me "was looking at my legs". Well, shame, shame on me. This was my first rude awakening about this stupid religion. These idiots had me going out to get a needle and thread to sew up the small slit.

Over the years in the religion, I was either told or made to feel that I had to cover up my figure better. These people have serious issues about women with a nice figure. One stupid sister suggested to me that I should buy a dress a size larger so as not to emphasize my 'curves'.

However, I wasn't the only one in the hall scrutinized (actually, persecuted) over my figure. There was a tall married sister with nice legs who was criticized over her assets as well.

Between criticism and harping over this issue of 'modesty' and their idiot remarks about 'materialism' and responsible people with jobs, I felt that this religion can go to hell. I wouldn't give them the time of day.

I was thinking along the lines of how your mom is and how your dad has to come to your home to use the internet. The way this WT is put even if a JW family has the internet and say the husband or wife have some doubts about the truth I was thinking mainly the husband because of the pron stuff but it would make it impossible for doubting mate to use the internet at home.

If the husband were to spend a couple of hours on internet and then hide where he went so as to not freak out his wife she will automatically think he was checking pron out. The fights will start and who knows where it will go. The are causing divisions in the marriage. They know it. It is totally insane how they are coming into the privite homes of us with their rules.

Think of the fights and sneaking around this is going to cause families.

I know so many JW wives who will use this WT against their husbands.

This religion is getting scary it is so controlling .

For one thing children need the internet for homework

I know I'm late on this but we only have one computer and in the afternoons when the kids get home from school they use it to do their homework. Either writing papers, translating english to spanish for spanish homework, doing math (my 4th grader's textbook is online and it saves him from lugging a heavy textbook home), reasearch, etc. We could go to the library, which is what my oldest does from times to time - it's quieter there, but it saves time for the kids to do their homework here. I can see my parents take this directive to heart. It's so sad.

Longhairgal--I remember sitting in the backseat of a car while me and another sister sewed the slits in my dress to just past my knee. It was in the mid-nineties when long fuller skirts had half a dozen slots all around the skirt. Did you always carry safety pins in case your blouse was cut a little too low?

I had a friend who was model beautiful and always dressed very modestly but because she was so beautiful she attracted attention wherever she went. She got pulled aside by a spanish sister in the parking lot of a restaurant we had eaten at during assembly. This woman lectured her for 20 minutes about the way she looked and walked until my friend was sobbing. That's Christian love for you. More like jealousy.

I think this advice is also along the lines of ...

You might be better to not even have a TV ... 1970-1990's

You might be better to not even have the radio ... 1940-1960's

You might be better to not even have books not written by the Society ... 1890-2010's

Basically, same thought ... different mediums. The society does not encourage any contact with the world of entertianment and information. Information leads to educated minds that take people out of the religion.

    LUNATIC FAITH:

Yes, I do carry safety pins. I also use those cami things to hide cleavage. I never deliberately try to show off my body. Never did and I suppose I never had to.

It sounds to me from your two posts that these Spanish sisters are very vocal with trying to put-down or intimidate other women. Boy, I would certainly tell that sister off if she said something to me! What nerve! I'd tell her to go take a freakin' hike. I have to assume all this is because of the shortage of men and they are threatened by any woman who is goodlooking.

If these jealous women in the religion had their way, they would make a pretty sister wear a burka.

My 12 year old sister was told her skirts were too short. She was friggin 12 years old. All I could think about was how sick a person had to be to be looking at a 12 year old. There was also a young child maybe about 11 who was absolutly roasted for wearing a dress with spegetti straps to a tea party. There are some sick, twisted perverts in the organization.

"For example, keeping the computer in an open area can serve as a protection"

What do they mean by "the" computer? A lot of households have more than one computer. I have 8, and I live alone. For example, a mom and dad might each need their own so they can VPN in to work in the evening. Each kid might need their own for educational purposes. We're not in the '50's anymore when a family sits together in the livingroom watching Ozzie and bloody Harriet all evening. We've got shit to do and schedules to keep.
