$121.49 means he's getting the high speed full basic cable and phone package, wow. Or maybe a few PPV movies?

If the WTS hates the internet so much, why does the WTS have its own websites (and presumably website maintenance personnel)?

Do as we say, not as we do.

    Hypocrites.

There is a scripture that says if your hand causes you to sin, that you should cut it off rather than not get into the kingdom....maybe they're thinking of that.

    [Mk 9:43]:

    (v. 43) "If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.

Great, at first I was thinking the JWs were going to adopt Mormonism as their next business model...

It now looks like, instead, they're shooting for the Amish style.

What Lunatic Faith wrote in her first post really caughet my attention - being lectured on dress because jw men supposedly can't control their own impulses. Wow, that woman lecturing her was truly deluded. There they are, immersed in their religion, and they can't even control their roving eyeballs in the Kindom Hall, while God's Word is (supposedly) being discussed. Good grief. And yet we know that this religion is saturated with sexual obsession, so it doesn't surprise me.

As far as the Internet goes, Mad Sweeney's comment is something I'll echo - how many jws really decide not to have Internet? We're never told who these people are - they are under the guise of "some". Now, there probably are a few who don't have it, but that's likely because they can't afford it. If a jw can afford it, it's a pretty good bet they'll have it.

My Mom is one of those Witnesses who is terrified of having the internet in their home. A couple of years ago, I offered to give her an extra computer that I didn't need. Her reaction was one of terror. She didn't want Satan to have access to her house. That Satan, he's a crafty MF.

The statement the WT made that "some people have decided not to have a computer in their home" is WT speak for "do not have a computer in your home"

My Dad (who was never a Witness) has to come to my house to research products he wants to buy or read up about college football recruiting and other things he's interested in. My Dad never comes over and asks to look at the latest porn, and he's never "accidentally" gotten into a porn site. He's never even accidentally went to the women's underwear section at Sears online.

They use "porn" as a scare tactic to keep people away. In Dubland the internet and porn just go together. We all know the WT is really afraid of the rank and file reading sites like this and turning away from the Corporation Religion.

I was thinking about the Amish the other day and how despite their being very different from typical society, at least they (for the most part) can live isolated in their own community. Whereas Jehovah's Witnesses have to shop, work and go to school completey intermingled with the "evil world". Therefore, villabolo is right when he hinted that in the future, JWs could wind up living in isolated communities riding around in horse-drawn carts.

Suggesting no internet? Really? That is by far the most brilliant suggestion I've ever heard. This must be the Truth. Next, they will suggest you avoid ATMs at all cost because of the snare of loving money.

They cannot turn the clock back to the victorian age the genie is out of the bottle. They emphasise how people have to press on to maturity whilst still keeping them as small children telling what is and is not best for them.

Most people manage their affairs on the internet without the need to spend hours viewing pornography. It is another generalisation that all people who have internet will use it for ill. It is a shame that they do this and speaks more of their fear that people will come across sites such as this one rather than pornography.

It shouldn't take hours to view pornography if you're doing it right.

    Just sayin.

"Whether intentionally or not, he might chance upon sexually stimulating scenes." ----- Excuse me? How does anyone unintentionally chance upon sexual explicit material on the net? What planet are these idiots on?
