Something I've noticed is that none of the dubs are reading the litteratrash like they used to. I found it bizarre locally that I was the only one in the local congregation that was current on the latest "food from mother". This is even with less stuff being printed all the time. And looking around during a meeting, the place is full of blank stares with bodies present but brains somewhere else.
When the publishing company can't keep their own people interested, there are some serious problems.

Billy, I think it was always that way. Very few in the congregation would regularly read the wt & awake. When I had to do microphone service I could see that hardly anyone was prepared for the wt study. The conductor often complained to the cong. that he keeps having to call on the same people to give answers. By the way, we were classed as strong congregation having two former COs, ex missionaries and bethelites, two special pioneers, 14 reg. pios, a few reg. aux. pios and aux. pios!!!
The guilty feeling of not having done all that we are supposed to do had a certain grip on me then and I believe on many who are still in.
My mom has been a JW for 56 yrs...She now knows she will die in this system...so sad! She doesnt even keep up with new light any more, like the generation change.....same with the 48 yr old JW that calls on me. Seems like the ones on this board are the ones that keep up with new light.......whats wrong with this picture?????When we have to give the JW the new light, thought that was the GB job.....guess not!!!!!!!!LOL........LOL..........LOL
Yeah, the numbers keep going up, principally from 3rd world countries & non-native speaking immigrants in advanced nations, but those that stay in or come in...

-- Are quite happy to turn in token service (even 10 hours a month is "token" if 6 of those hours are spent in the donut shop)
-- Have little or no interest in conducting Bible studies to bring in new recruits
-- Are going hog-wild crazy for internet porn, facebook, twitter, texting. i.e., everything the Society rails against
-- Obey Governing Body directives only so far as it is convenient (just watch the dubbies swarm into a convention site at 8:00:01 and drop 20 or 30 magazines on seats to save for their friends)
-- Don't bother to read the magazines or books
-- Have only the faintest notion of JW theology outside of "no trinity, no hellfire, no immortal soul, no blood, no holidays, no 'worldly' friends"
The core is crumbling, despite rosy-looking numbers.

My youngest daughter who is 23 told me this: "The meetings are so boring now and the elders just want to rule over everyone or so it seems. There has been an increase were I am but it's from 3rd world countries that migrated here, Cambodia and parts of Africa, some from old Yugoslavia, there was a special assembly about this great news but they failed to tell about the bethels that are closing.

Not necessarily. There's a bill up right now that takes it away from anyone not already 55. I swallowed the no education kool-aid and may not even have social security. I'm 54. Pretty scary for the likes of us.

My mom & dad ( a long time elder ) are 85 and 83, been in the organization almost 60 years now ! My mom told me a couple years ago that she never thought she would reach her 80's in this system of things. I told her that I was told I'd never marry or have kids in this system - now they are in their mid 20's ! She agreed but then reverted back and said, " well, we still see a lot of trouble in the news and signs of the end times. " I just agreed times were bad and changed the subject to family matters. It's so sad seeing your parents and long time members be duped who have given their LIVES to this damned cult .
I agree with Cantleave when he said people older , perhaps 65 and up may not exit as they are too invested , but the age group of 20's through 40's , even into their 50's are REALLY starting to think with their own minds more so these days. One can only hope that more JW's will exit and start waking up to freedom of mind and smelling the coffee brewing
