Before I speak anymore about this, anyone challenging this prophecy is going to have to tell me something about themselves. Do you believe in a supreme being, etc?

    The Existence of God

Again the early Bible students made an objective decision about the 1914 prophecy based on the best information that was at their disposal. They could have stated any date they wanted for the end of the Gentile times because it had not happened yet.

“It was in B.C. 606, that God’s kingdom ended, the diadem was removed, and all the earth given up to the Gentiles. 2520 years from B.C. 606, will end in A.D. 1914.” —The Three Worlds, published in 1877, page 83.

Will contradictory information surface later? Most certainly yes.

Tentative history gives us something to go by, but the grand theme of the Bible does not revolve around the 1914 prophesy, nor does tentative history disprove God's inspired word and its harmonious theme. There's a bigger picture to be considered. I provided some background information on this and of course no one commented on it.

What is the point in disproving the 1914 prophecy may ask? If the 1914 prophecy isn't true your not going to be destroyed by God like refuting Pascal's Wager means you may not go hell? Something to this effect?

I sent this link to my mother, I will keep trying to save her. Thank you so much! She is "old school" and does not really trust anything she finds on the internet, so the pictures are on point.

    Thank you!!!

Don't change the subject. You likely want to discredit anything that is said based on whether or not they believe in God; you want to support your belief that there is one, and that he uses the WT, all by defending the use of 607 as the right date, thus proving that the WT speaks from God!

Circular reasoning. The problem is, it is the WRONG DATE, and the WT's claim to having inside knowledge makes them, and you by extension, look very foolish.

I will assume that if someone here says they do not believe in God, you will discredit their opinion. That is called an ad hominem attack; it is the stock in trade for the WT writers.

You can't get by with that here; you will need to support your asssertion with an argument backed by facts, not opinion or attack.

No serious scholars who have been peer reviewed think Jerusalem was destroyed in 607. Tell us your credentials, your basis, for asserting it is true.

Or try to deal with the succession of kings and the eclipses that form the basis for assigning it to 587.

SO: impress us; show us the chronology for thinking that 607 was when Jerusalem was destroyed, something not based on counting backwards from the return.

Oh yes because your endowed with god's holy spirit of truth.

We summit to your holy presence.

But wait, I'm going to pray to god to check up on this assertion.

    ..................................... Amen

OK he's answered and says you been over taken by a false deceiving prophets and not to converse with you

as your spirit is unclean and disingenuous.

Thank you god once again for your guiding light and direction.

    Alice In Wonderland,

There are quite a few links listing Wikipedia as a reference for quite a bit of your information...

On the show, The Office, Michael Scott says:

"Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject. So you know you are getting the best possible information."
    Hmmmmm......

Now you seem to be saying that overall the Bible is true, and that 1914 is not a big deal. Really? If 1914 is wrong, then the WT is wrong for defending it.

I have taken Pascal's wager; I declined to bet, especially to the WT. You see Pascal's wager, and see the need to confirm every crazy date the WT espouses.

It is important to them because they hang their hat on that date, though less so as time goes on, having to stretch 'generation' into at least 2 'generations', a breathtakingly stupid explanation.

Try to separate 607 from all other things in your thinking, just consider WHY the WT still hangs onto it, even why they came up with it in the first place.

Consider the historical origins of the idea; this obsession with chronology is common in the 1800's, esp with William Miller, a big influence on CT Russell.

The craze around Miller disappeared for the most part when his date came and went; Russell picked it up and tried to extend the date, over and over and over again. Russell, Rutherford, Knorr, Franz, they all hung onto it. When Ray Franz tried to tell them the idea was flawed, they threw him out without considering he might be right.

(Here is another date you should try to defend to us: 1975. Or even 1994, the last year any witness talked about a generation being 80 years long, when for years we said at the VERY MOST 80 years. Some of us, myself included, skipped college and went into trades, because the 68 Awake said we would NEVER graduate college or have a career in this system. Now my children have to face high unemployment with no higher schooling, as the WT demonizes college at every convention).

You seem to need this date of 607 to be right, but all indicators are that it is wrong.

Are you beginning to realize that so much of your belief system hangs on one date? That if they are wrong about this, and they certainly are, then what about everything else?

Quite interesting is it not when Groups or organizations make pompous arrogant claims that they and

they alone have the correct interpretation of the bible but once scrutinizing their doctrines/dogma they fall apart

like a house made of cards. What we are witnessing here is AIW devoutly trying to support this house made up of pretentious

exploitation of the bible for commercialism..

The JW movement will pass away over time like the Millerites from the 19th century, its only a matter of time.

Answer the question I asked seriously thetrueone. It's not a trick question.

The above link for some reason didn't cooperate, here it is again.

Do you believe in a supreme being, etc?

I'm guessing this is THE question your pertaining to.

In relation to all of stories from the ancients involving their gods/spirits etc. , definitely no.

Too much as been learned now in all the many sciences to support those particular stories out of

    mankind's history.

Besides, I already have enough power, money and control over others in my life so the need for religion is mute and unnecessary.
