  Back in the 50s and 60s you could raise your hand and ask questions during the Watchtower and Book Study meetings, questions not answered were given out as homework assignments and answered at the following meeting. All of that changed in the 70s and by Ray's exit in 1980 you didn't dare raise a question or issue, it would have meant a trip to the back room.

  But that's Religion, most Denominations don't allow for serious and open challenges to their doctrines and interpretations, they show you the door pretty quickly. In the Protestant realm people tend to float around till they find something Liberal or Conservative enough to fit their own views.

  Where does "we must obey God as ruler rather than men" fit into obeying the WTS/FDS/GB when it is wrong?

  This truly is just very scary and sick. Why cannot most people see it for what it is. I read the first post to my die hard JW husband and he just said so it is still the "truth"

  So...after years of proudly and arrogantly announcing that only Jehovah's Witnesses have "the truth," they now are embracing spiritual relativism. In essence, they are saying that is doesn't matter what you believe; what matter is that you are attached to the correct group.

  They have to minimize doctrine and maximize group membership because while doctrine is in a constant state of flux and therefore "the truth" is relative, keeping the membership committed to the Borg is THE ONLY WAY to maintain the corporation's viability.

  Of course, no one takes it a step farther:

  How do we know it's the "correct" group?

  -- Because they teach the truth!

  But you just said they might be wrong.

  -- Well, if they are wrong, that's OK, because they are the correct group.

  But how do we know it's the "correct" group?

  And the cycle repeats. We are now in iteration 4,562,678,012.

  Its just a new way of saying 'the light gets brighter'. Religions give themselves an out. Let's see the HS is now supposedly given 1500 groups different messages all telling them they each are the Way.

  Lovely, and when you are on the inside of this bandwagon you just humm and whistle along with the party line.
