Theodore being normally reticent to expose himself to uncomfortable situations decided to take a walk in the park one evening with his dog Chipsteroo a chunky indolent basset hound. It was beginning to get dark and Theodore was anxious to get home when suddenly a very truculent squirrel rushed towards chipsteroo who began to howl in fear causing nearby dogs to join in the chorus which ended up sounding like a pack of coyotes had invaded the park. The phone lines in the police station erupted with frantic calls and police cars surrounding Theodore, chipsteroo and the crazy squirrel the photo in the newspaper was priceless.

Hmmm How to look elegant wearing clumsy galoshes, whilst eating crisp pancetta, under a huge outdoor tent, all because the invitation stated come rain or shine our party will proceed. The hosts party usually has such panache, but not on this drippy day.

The group vote was in the most provocative parody song was "Itsy bitsey teenie weenie yellow polka dot Bikini" and the question was should we legalize this new version of monster mash "They're smokin hash they're smokin monster hash It caught on in a flash". It was a great party many old crazy songs were sung and everyone had a good laugh.

The County of Meade, in the southwest corner of the State of Kansas, doesn't even have 5,000 people. They had a pasture problem for their cattle when the invasive devil's weed took hold in that area. Their area of Kansas received only one inch of rain from Jan 1 to April 30th. It was a major grower of wheat. This year, with such little rain yet, they will not have to worry about weeds, but will worry about their cash crop, seed wheat.

Granted, when someone mentions granite, I immediately think of Dr. Larabee ( August Pendleton) in the movie, " What's up, Doc?" talking to Burnsy ( Barbra Streisand) about Howard Bannister's (Ryan O'Neal) igneous rocks. I grant you, all these decades later, it produces from me guffaws and chuckles of delight and is a throwback to the screwball comedy of the golden age of movies. You gotta see it.
