During the last year we were "in" the CO told the elders that they were losing 25% of the elders. We could believe that since there were 8 ex-elders in that congregation. There were few male teenage jws sticking around thus few MS. They have had to have elders from other areas move into some congregations. Others haved died or been removed after 30 years as elders. The ex-elders we knew would never be elders again per their statements and they still aren't 9 years later.

HappyGuy, "that you need to make a good impression and people will trust you more if you look like an FBI agent... "

(Never thought of it that way - hilarious!)

The only way women would be added is if there were no baptized males in the congregation except df'd or da'd. They might let them do duties out of sight of the rank and file but never, never would the be "appointed."

Mary: "Golly.......I wonder if they'll get so desperate that they open the doors to the female species. "

Sorry Mary, Paul excluded females from the job because they're all gossips. Sisterfolk do, however, enjoy the privilege of marrying servants or elders, and becoming mothers to future servants and elders.

Damn I wish I had this problem...... We have 9 active Elders and a few who have stepped down for 'personal' reasons but expect to be reappointed in a year or two.....

......There was a rumor circulating from Spain about the WTS pondering 'Pricilla' situations in committee.....

I understand Mexico is short mucho hermanos.....

Perhaps the Mexico branch should begin production of "Elder in a Can"...

Just add a shirt and a tie! Pre-recorded talks will be sent from the branch.

It's just another tactic to make people feel like they're wrong for not following WT directions. If you're a qualified brother but aren't helping out then the WTS says "shame on you". But they don't really want biblically qualified brothers to teach the Bible to people. They want Organization men to teach the WTS rules and regulations to the followers.

Without proper schooling as counselors or pastors we were just winging it at best and doing harm other times. Shepherding Calls when we were out in service with a publisher, remember that gem, want to see people sobbing out in service as they talk about their problems, brilliant.

Mary, you have the right idea. The Salvation Army started out with women as Officers back in the mid 1800s, pretty progressive.

    HappyGuy,

Your comments about the WT stance on facial hair reminded me of what I observed the other day when I was working at one of the most advanced hospitals in the state.

I was there when the specialist staff were arriving for work. These were specialist doctors from just about every branch of medicine that there is, and nearly all were middle aged men (my apologies to all female posters on this board!)

Of these, the majority had neatly groomed beards.

    - So much for not being able to trust a man with a beard!

(Many also in senior manergerial positions where I work wear beards - all of whom look good thus groomed).

My major regret is that I swallowed that nonsense for so long!
