You are not making too much out of this. I think its a sign of growth and owning your freedom from a religion that sucked all it could out of you.
I'm new to halloween too. This will be the first halloween since my fade where I will actually do something other than thinking about if I'm too far gone if I did something for halloween. I'm helping a friend with a kiddy party and will be Dorothy (wizard of oz) and then later I'm off to an adult party where I won't be Dorothy, at least not the one from Kansas.
