  Just gotta know what the definition of "is" is, eh? The deal with the society is that they just love to change the rules while the game is being played. Yes, and sometimes changing the way a word is defined or used. Constantly - and if you do not immediately adapt, you are living in the "old light".

  It is a simple fact of witness life that you can be unceremoniosly disfellowshipped for publicly promoting ideas from their own recent past that they have arbitrarily changed.

  And this is the essence of a dangerous control cult.

  How many people that were disfellowshiped because they didn't agree with a doctrine that was later changed (refined), have been "forgiven" since the doctrine has been "refined" ?

  Perhaps you would explain how the 'Rape' refinements amount to 'turning toward light' like a little child? For God's sake, man, it was back and forth and not nuances of meaning! Perhaps you would feel differently if your mother had been df'd after being raped? Perhaps you would have volunteered to pin the scarlet letter to her chest?

  Disfellowshipping is one way a group is refined. It's based part on scripture, and part on societal norms.

  I don't study "rape" refinements. I have enough else going on in my life. I'll leave the "rape" refinements to those who have a "calling" for it.

  Spike, if you are talking of WT disfellowshiping, that is not how the WT refines, that is how they control.

  Jehovah uses WT controls to refine. Whether we actually become refined, that depends upon our earnest efforts to reconcile with Jehovah as required.

  Addtionally, none of the WT changes are refinements. For example...in 1968 and prior organ transplants were allowed with no reservation. This was not refined in 1969, it was changed, banned...disallowed, using the same logic that bans blood transfusions of whole blood (previously banning transfusions of any blood product). However in 1980 this organ transplant ban was lifted, restoring to the previous views. This was not a refinement of the ban, a cleaing-up, sharpening or modification of it. It was a contradiction of it, as the Wt said "any scriptural objection seems to be lacking." So the ban, by their own words was unscriptural. Surely not a refinement, and definitely not from God.

  If even a "false prophet" reconciles with Jehovah, that "false prophet" can be forgiven by Jehovah. Who are any of us (mere mortals) have a right to question Jehovah's forgiveness? Surely it is never "right" to be lippy to Jehovah.
