Is There Anything Good About The Jehovah's Witness Religion?

ATALAYA, while I welcome you to JWN, I must respectfully disagree with your post.

Yes.The Bible teaches them to respect marriage.
Their children are trained in right principles.
The importance of the family is stressed.
The more individuals and families that Jehovah's Witnesses influence to
live by Christian principles, the less delinquency, immorality, and crime.

JW's have the same rate of divorce as any other group, and I have witnessed with my own eyes the fact that the WB&TS turns a blind eye to child abuse and molestation as well as domestic violence. Their children are terrorized with stories of Armageddon and demons and often live double lives. Family love is conditional and often torn apart by the organization. In many cases, JW's fail to even recognize crime and confuse it with sin, such is the case with the child molestation problems in the organization.

Jehovah's Witnesses try to recommend the good news to others in this way also:
by being exemplary in the Christian conduct that they recommend to others.
They try to 'do unto others as they would have others do unto them.' (Matthew 7:12)

If they really followed this principal, they wouldn't shun people or hope for their destruction during Armageddon.

They try to be this way with all men, not just with fellow Witnesses, friends, neighbors, or relatives. Being imperfect, they do not always succeed 100 percent.
But it is the desire of their hearts to do good unto all people not only in telling
them the good news of the Kingdom but also
in extending a helping hand whenever possible.-James 2:14-17.

There are many good hearted people among the JW's, but their goodness is corrupted by the WB&TS. The organization brags an awful lot about the good in the people but fails to rectify so much that is bad. All the while, they claim to be God's chosen people and harshly criticize any other religion on the planet.

The last time I answered a thread just like this one, I think I used the old WT illustration of a tall glass of water with one drop of poison in it. Would you drink it? Credit can be given to the WT religion for various things, but many of those things would have been accomplished in individual lives through some other agency or beliefs or character of the members.

Children don't need "My Book of Bible Stories" to become good readers- Asian non-Christian children are perhaps the best readers in the world.
Plenty of Christians and non-Christians are moral, family-centered, honest, hardworking, etc.

This time, I will list some of the links to that drop of poison-

I could just as easily show drops of poison by quoting the Watchtower.
In case you cannot tell, I hate questions like the one in this thread title.

    Sunspot,

You would have to admit, though, that it was a b#%*dy expensive course in public speaking!

I finally though of something good about the JW religion. It is like hitting yourself on the head with a hammer. It fells so good when you stop.

If one loves living in Dark Ages, I suppose they would want to support the witlesses. Because that's where the religion is trying to head its members, and will happily plunge the whole world if they are given half a chance.

I think it says something if a violent person becomes a JW and changes.

I think if a drug abuser or heavy drinker becomes a JW and actually does change their behavior, you have to give credit where do. But I think the same could be said about someone with a troubled past that converts to Islam.

Minimus per the change in violent or addicted persons. If that person is searching or open to changing their life, nearly anything can be the impetus. It's not about the religion, it's about the person.

    Mastodon, that was awesome!

LWT you got to it first, the idea that the JW's promote the importance of family is downright absurd.

OTWO, perfect analogy. Any possible good (I can't think of much that is exclusive to Dubs) is so far outweighed by the bad, it's undrinkable.

Beks, I don't necessarily agree. Literally, SOME THING could help change the person's outlook.
