she is a JW? well I'll be damned

Don't know. Never heard. My statement was to the fact that my opinion probably means little since I don't believe that anyone should have kids if they don't understand that their first obligation is to a child when the elect to have one or keep one ....and since JW's don't believe it's family first and organization second, that would include them. sammieswife.

Well Purp just confirmed what I was thinking when reading through this..she just got impregnated ..I have heard of them using more than one because they don't always take.

I don't know what the usual limit is but 8 seems excessive..but as the article pointed out..she didn't know how many had taken until later..and decided to keep them. She could have been as horrified as we are!

And maybe her and the Dr were in cahoots to make some money on something so rare..he too is getting publicity remember..maybe he did it for free..

People do a lot of things for money..

Snoozy..who saw the headlines one time but wasn't interested..thanks for posting about it.

Oh Dave, Dave, Dave... what would you like me to do? Hold her figurative hand and say "There, there, Hon....It's okay. Have as many babies as you like. Why not shoot for 20!" Who are we to condemn this Frankenstein-ish bastardization of medical technology?

Maybe my "ire" if you will, comes from having to look square in the face of irresponsible parenting.

And you know what? The eyes on that face are usually closed and it's the most beautiful face in the world because that face is only a day old. The triage nurse has called me up to find out what to do with this beautiful face, cause Mom is a drug addict, and all 7 or 8 of her other children are all in state custody and she has since checked out AMA and has left the hospital, no name, no nothing. And dropped this child into the world as if it were yesterdays news. Do you know what it's like to have to place a 2 day old infant in foster care? Do you know what it's like to see a child come in to the emergency room because of abuse or neglect suffered at the hands of mothers ( and fathers) too caught up in there own issues to properly care for a child? Come do my job, 40 hours a week. Then maybe you can begin to comprehend real "ire".

IMO, this woman is too caught up in her own issues and obsessions to realize the potential harm she is doing to these children. And she probably cares the least bit about how her actions are impacting her family. And of course the public can probably kiss her @zz, even though it will be this very public that will end up paying for these children.

So before you go throwing your accusations of misogyny and contradictions, why don't you stroll on down to the county hospital or whatever they have in Hertfordshire, and take a look see at what happens when a woman ( or man, because outside of this extreme case of sperm donors, I believe men who father these children hold equal responsibility) thinks nothing of producing a child that she can barely care for. Then follow that child on down the years in the "system". Dave, you have no idea....

    Independant, thanks for posting.

We should be more concerned with the children than the mother's motivation. I think that in our grab for fame we forget about kids. Brittany got alot of publicity and sympathy for being a drug addicted Mom. But she could afford to buy helpers and lawyers. And with public sympathy, donations and the State this woman can too. You can bet there are lawyers lined up at her doorstep, ready to make a case and get their cut.

No. This chick shows too many signs of mental instabilitiy as reported from those around her.

Doesn't Mrs. Duggar bother you? She's a little too "happy" and "contrived." She never loses her temper, or even comes close. After being near the JWs for years and years, she reminds me of the perfect elder's wife on tv.

Skeeter, she'll blow up and drown her kids in the bathtub. She has help from her older daughters. If she didn't have the older kids.....they never would have made it.

And WHY make your kids raise your kids?

Cog - let it go okay. YOU were the one that posted challenging/questioning me about what I know about the DSM, as if any of that even matters on an internet forum. If you carefully read my post, you just might see that I said everyone is assuming things and that you cannot diagnose anyone over the internet. But as I said before, this my friend, is the internet NOT, a person's medical record. Anyone is free to post whatever the heck the like and if it is my opinion that this woman is a nutjob, so be it.

And of course opinions are like ________, everyone has one.

Independent Ire: I see YOU do not like to have your assumptions challenged or questioned. I'm not sure what the capitalizing and bolding is all about (the equivalent of internet shouting?)but hey, I thought I would run with it. Many people are assuming things on this thread, but not everyone. I have not made any assumptions about this woman's mental health, as I don't know her. I made no assumptions about your knowledge of mental health issues; I asked you what your qualifications were to make an internet diagnosis of someone you had never met. I did read your post carefully and you certainly did not say you cannot diagnose someone over the internet. YOU said:

I guarantee that she can be diagnosed with multiple issues, - probably lacks a sense of the reality surrounding her. Her extreme case is being confused with a woman wanting a large family, but having the right supportive elements in place. Living off your parents and driving your own mother to have psychiatric problems and not caring about how all these children will be fed and cared for, also seems a bit narcissistic (sp?)

That certainly sounds like a diagnosis to me. I can only hope that your memory lasts a little longer than two pages when you are assessing your real clients. I fully realize this is not a diagnostic clinic, but a discussion forum. That doesn't mean we have to drop all semblance of accurate fact gathering, logic and critical analysis in our posts, at least if we want it to be an intelligent discussion and not a witch hunt.

That's my opinion for what it's worth. (I know what Independent Ire thinks it's worth!) OK, now I'll let it go.
