I think you should send her a copy of the tape where the elder swears in court that JWs do not break up families and there is no 'shunning'.

I'm sure you can find the link.

Are the young children the same one's that you have the restraining order for? If so, seems inappropriate to bring them to her house - thus forcing a violation of the order. Maybe I'm confused.

So sorry to hear your mother has no natural affection for you, guess she missed that part of the bible. ((((Hugs)))) I'm assuming you were paraphrasing the article because the wording seemed very off to me, not like the typical JW article at all.

    Lessons for us:

5-7. Can the wicked escape Jehovah's judgement? According to the three warning examples listed by Judge, that is impossible.

8-10. We should follow the example of Michael the archangel and show respect for divinely contituted authority. (This is usually where the Faithful and Discreet Slave is mentioned as THE divinely constituted authority.)

    12. Apostates feigning love are as dangerous to our faith as rocks hidden below water are to ships or swimmers. False teachers may seem to be generous, but they are like waterless clouds in that they are spiritually empty. Such ones are as fruitless as dead trees in late autumn. They face destruction, as do uprooted trees. Wise we are to shun apostates.

22, 23. True Christian hate what is bad. In an effort to save "some that have doubts" out of the fire of everlasting destruction, (usually worded as destruction at Armageddon or something along those lines) mature ones in the congregation - especially appointed overseers - provide them with spiritual help.

2,4. Our coming to know the truth - the entire body of Christian teachings that has become part of the Bible - and adhering to it are essential for our salvation. 3 John 3,4.

8-11. If we do not want to lose "undeserved kindness, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ (again, seems a bit off, normally would read from Jehovah and Jesus would be left out entirely) as well as the loving association of fellow believers, we should "look out" for ourselves spiritually and reject those who do "not remain in the teaching of the Christ. (reject the commandments of Jehovah would be more the normal dub speak)" 2 John 3

I don't ever recall an article in which Jesus is mentioned more than Jehovah and where Jehovah is referred to as God the father. Not trying to pick fault, the wording just seems very off to me for a WTBS publication. Are they changing their lingo format to now associate Jesus more closely with Jehovah or something?

Ask her for a copy of that WT.

Quote her this article from the June 1, 1997 WT if she cannot/will not give you one.

Secrecy in the Name of The Lord

Published on their official website at http://www.watchtower.org/e/19970601/article_02.htm

"Jehovah's Witnesses are in no sense a secret society. Their Bible-based beliefs are fully explained in publications that are available to anyone.

    Cheers

The best answer I can give is what Jesus said, "Blind guides, who strain out the gnat and gulp down the camel." Matt. 23:24

Hello ALamb: I would like to put these scriptures in there proper place. You might find them interesting from the NWT:

2,4. Our coming to know the truth - the entire body of Christian teachings that has become part of the Bible - and adhering to it are essential for our salvation. 3 John 3,4.

You will see that the Jehovah's Witnesses are taken this out of contexts! They can not add to the bible to become a part of something already written? so what does that make them! Let reason this out with mom!

3John 3 For I rejoiced very much when brothers came and bore witness to the truth you hold, just as you go on walking in the truth. 4 No greater cause for thankfulness do I have than these things, that I should be hearing that my children go on walking in the truth.

The truth was that Jesus was born, died for us, and ascended up in heaven! Tell your mother that you love Jesus and believe in him and will stick with what you believe over doctrines of man!

8-11. *If we do not want to lose "undeserved kindness, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ," as well as the loving association of fellow believers, we should "look out" for ourselves spiritually and *reject those who do "not remain in the teaching of the Christ." 2 John 3.

The above underlined paragraph is something that I could not find and its meaning is just out of context with 2 John! In fact it is calling people to Peace! 3 *There will be with us undeserved kindness, mercy [and] peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ the Son of the Father, with truth and love.

Remind mom that it is reject those who do not remain in the teachings of God! that is we love one another and and if anyone does not bring this commandment of LOVE you do not let them in your home!

5 So now I request you, lady, as [a person] writing you, not a new commandment, but one which we had from [the] beginning, that we love one another. And this is what love means, that we go on walking according to his commandments. This is the commandment, just as YOU people have heard from [the] beginning, that YOU should go on walking in it. 7 For many deceivers have gone forth into the world, persons not confessing Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh . This is the deceiver and the antichrist.

8 Look out for yourselves, that YOU do not lose the things we have worked to produce, but that YOU may obtain a full reward. 9 Everyone that pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God. He that does remain in this teaching is the one that has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes to YOU and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into YOUR homes or say a greeting to him. 11 For he that says a greeting to him is a sharer in his wicked works.

    * I should add; Does not remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God! it really is talking about Jesus commandment of Love and his grace or underserve kindness that he died for All of US! and that is what the apostles shared because many people did not believe Jesus was the Christ! whereas we today do. WTBTS really went way out to miss apply these scriptures to their doctines My favorite is IF we do not want to lose underserve Kindness! The more I think about this! the only way you can lose it is if you go against the Holy Spirit or maybe say Jesus was false.

You must be tired and worn out from her rejection! Hope you can find some sort of support group or another church! Tell your mom that you love her and that is his commandments! Noticed I did not touch Michael!

Did your mom email say anything about love? I did not notice but I did notice the scriptures were out of context, it 's mind blowing how they miss use scriptures!

Thank you for all the replies. I'll let my emotions simmer before writing back. It's been years of this with her. She didn't e-mail...sent a hand written note with Xeroxed copies of the WT info. They were in a WT. There are now "Lessons for Us" sections at the end of articles to highlight and twist what they already misapplied and twisted to make sure you got it. I'll scan her copies tomorrow. She even enlarged them and used alot of exclamation points to strengthen her argument.

Can anyone get a copy of this? Blondie? V?

You have been through so much already!! Remind her of the court order. Would the following make any difference to her?

Rom 14:10 But you, why do you judge your brother? Or you again, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

    Col 3:21

    International Standard Version(©2008)
Fathers, do not make your children resentful. Otherwise, they'll become discouraged.

    New American Standard Bible(©1995)
Fathers, do not exasperate your children, so that they will not lose heart.

Hey sweetie---why don't you PM me your mother's address and I'll (anonymously) send her a copy of my project. I'm sure she'd especially love the part I did about "disfellowshipping", along with the fact that the Craptower Society accepted monies invested in a cigarette company.
