Things That Irritated You When You Were A JW

There were some Witnesses that LOVED taking notes for every meeting. Whatever you would say, the note takers were busy as a bee writing down every word. Especially if you went out of town to give a talk, certain ones (only sisters) would take their note taking very very seriously.

Another thing that used to get to me was when you'd see the same people every assembly on the platform giving a talk or being in a part. You knew who's palms were being greased! These types were on "the list" and were the CO's pets.

Toward the end of my years being an attender, I REALLY got irritated by the blowhards who actually thought they were "gifts in men". They deluded themselves. Some in the Hall would think they were wonderful---but they were the dumb gullible ones, anyway.

What things really got to you while you were a Witness???

Prejudice. God almighty they claimed all friggin day they saw no color and the white elders in my congregation totally WALKED ALL OVER the opinions of the black elders. There was no mistaking it the black families in our congregation WERE treated differently! And the result was they all sat together on one side of the hall as if circling the wagons. And the head of one family, who was an elder, was moving away with his family and in his final talk he DID point fingers at their ignorance and their actions without mentioning names. We ALL knew to whom he was referring. And he proudly gave his talk with his always present little bottle of Hot Sauce in his hankerchief pocket :)

I hated that the Elders Wives were a clique and that the OLD elders wives treated the NEW elders wives like they were lower life forms.

I hated the whole GRADING system for giving talks and the TIMING the damn talks and embarrassing people like they were little kids in grade school.

I hated witnesses who counted time from the moment they got TO the hall the the moment they got BACK to the hall including all breaks, all traveling, all the time just sitting in the car waiting for another group to finish a street...and pioneers who started their time at the hall by calling the study they were going to to tell them they were on the way....a study they had EVERY Wed morning for 3 years!

I hated the fakeness everyone put on when the CO was in town. I hated the way the School Overseer would do the School and be overly zealous "grading" people after their talks. It was impossible to give a G talk when he was in town.

I hated going door to door HATED it. Volunteers my ass.

I hated it when people dressed their NEWBORNS in SUITS and bought them little baby BOOK BAGS and gave them their own copies of the WATCHTOWER and paraded them around like this made the whole family even MORE spiritual. Child abuse much???

I hated that the children didnt have bible study and a "sunday school" if you will to teach them at their own level and that they were FORCED to sit with NOTHING to occupy them...for 5 hours a week of adult discussion. And being punished when they DIDNT sit still. Made me sick.

Oh man...I could go on and on and on but I might throw up in my mouth soon.

When all the elders got a haircut before the CO visit. Seriously.

Dubs thinking everyone who turns up at the Memorial is a potential study or dub. You know sometimes the unbelieving mate might just go along to support their partner!

Doing rvs, esp on those u know only took the mags to get rid of us.

Nasty dogs on the ministry and the creature-loving dubs who used those high-pitched zappers on them and anything else that moved.

BO in hot cars on the minsitry. Ew!
