You forgot defence contracting, police stating, flag waiving, fascist, authoritarian type socialist which you are.

Nope. I do not believe in police stating, I would far prefer for us to take our chances in a more open society. I wave a flag NOW that I am a non-witness. I am grateful for this country receiving my family and providing an environment for success. I ask for nothing. Just for the opportunity to reach out and grab what I want. I want the State to stay out of my way. I hate authoritarianism. This is why I hate socialism. I want the smallest possible government. I am a minarchist.

I'm too tired to be serious. I'm reminded of the statement that America is the only place in the world where 'a poor black child can grow up to become a rich white woman'. But that's irrelevant. I'm sorry. As for America being a land of opportunity, things change. Now, instead of growing up learning the family business or learning a profitable trade from scratch, our land of opportunity is limited to getting a degree, preferably in a prestigious university, so that we have the "opportunity" if getting a fair paying job with a major corporation. But this is not a local problem. The entire western world has become limited to this 'opportunity'

You have NO IDEA the story I could tell you! Why do you think I'm so adamant about this?

I'm inclined to believe those of you that rant against the American system are those that have failed to take advantage of it. You've failed in some way and are disappointed to the degree that you want to blame anything and anybody but yourselves for your failures or your lack of achievement. Oh no! It couldn't be because you were lazy or unmotivated or too heavy into partying. It HAS to be the rotten ole American system beating down the poor and disadvantaged.

According to Eric Hoffer the 'suffering' will cause South America to react, but with a great deal more confrontation and bloodshed. It will be the more evolved countries that will step ahead of the US, like the European Union and possibly Britian. Their dominance of the US dollar may be the 'tell' that the US has missed the boat.

A thoroughly recent phenomenon. Completely unrelated to any sort of social or political ideology we are discussing here. A red herring.

“With or without you’d have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, it takes statist ideology.”

You could say that the people that propogate this sort of system are the ones that have nothing to lose.

Not to mention the lunacy that is the American army, composed of the "scum" the country cannot keep at home.

Mincan, WTF does this mean? You must be absolutely NUTS. You're an idiot if you believe this nonsense, or else you don't

know very many military men and women.

edited to add: I AGREE.....you should withdraw that remark.

How is it a slur? It's common knowledge most of the United States army is disproportionately composed of the poorest, most desperate of those within the country, mostly from the Southeastern regions. Notice the "" around the word scum, meaning it is a phrase not meant to be taken literally.

Very few of those that "succeed" in the US system fight overseas to defend it.

Come up with an idea. Provide something that is valuable to others. You will become rich beyond the dreams of avarice.

As for the business climate our trade agreements have been poorly negotiated and poorly enforced. It needed to get done, but MUCH more gradually to ameliorate the human displacement. It is a race to the bottom righ now and although goods and capital can move about the world with unprecedented ease-LABOR cannot-and that is the crux of the matter. And it is the working class in America that is paying the price. However in other places, such as China and India, there is a tremendous vertical movement taking place for many many millions. It is a rather unique event in world history.

I hear the Euro trade imbalance has been becoming particularly ugly the last few months.

Have you ever thought they may want to be there not only because they want to serve their country, but because the military affords opportunities out the wazoo for people who are seeking them.
