I have given in to the blight of Wikipedia and posted a link that simply must be read. It explains what Social Democracy is, where it is going and where it has been proven as valid:

You should read The Moon is a Harsh Mistress sometime. Great story. Lunar settlers told the Earth and the UN where to stick it.

    Gregor,

When someone only focuses on your personal flaws and never has anything nice to say about you

Well, perhaps your comment gives away the fact that you are taking this personally Gregor. Because I despise some aspects of your country, does not mean I despise you, or your nation.

In Europe critisicm of ones country is seen as a healthy thing, not a treasonable offence. Perhaps when Americans learn to criticize their nation without a feeling of ire welling up inside their chests, it would be a healthier day for that nation. It would certainly allow for a mind that is more receptive to new ideas, and one that does not fear ideologies that are not wrapped in a flag and tears.

Good for you! I am sure Paris Hilton would be interested.

You are so much more small minded than what you try to portray, HS.

It's statements like this that give you away, not to mention your poor spelling and grammar. Go back and reread all the claptrap you have written

on just this one post. Nothing you have written is worthy of acknowledgement, yet some of the

more adept brains have been patient with your attempt at intellectualizing your spew. My Government

professor would have laughed at your idiotic rhetoric as you attempt to pull out your mediocre knowledge

of history, government, political science, and above all, sociology. I picture you as a pathetic little man

living in your father's shadow, fat, lazy, and trying desperately to be somebody respectable.

5 go, you have outdone yourself. This sentence alone describes your thought processes better than anything.

I find strange how people say capitalism brought us all this neat stuff when we are communicating on one of socialism's greatest achievements the Internet.

Put the bong down 5g0. Odds are that you are in your mother's basement on either a PC-architecture or Mac based computer. These are the profit-seeking products of either (originally) IBM or Apple. You are sending your data over a distributed mesh TCP/IP network that started as ARPANET, a communications network designed by the military of the world's most powerful capitalist nation to work no matter what, even if it received a nuclear barrage at the hands of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

    Going to bed,

Good to hear from Stillajwexelder , To answer your question with a negative, Money. Money/better life style for ME, money for my family back at home. And they will stay here until the European Union or some other location offers better odds of getting what they want.

    Journey-on,

    country represents UNLIMITED possibilities.

I'm too tired to be serious. I'm reminded of the statement that America is the only place in the world where 'a poor black child can grow up to become a rich white woman'. But that's irrelevant. I'm sorry. As for America being a land of opportunity, things change. Now, instead of growing up learning the family business or learning a profitable trade from scratch, our land of opportunity is limited to getting a degree, preferably in a prestigious university, so that we have the "opportunity" if getting a fair paying job with a major corporation. But this is not a local problem. The entire western world has become limited to this 'opportunity'.

But a society that fails to evolve, looking backward at their success, will fall behind those who use their success as a stepping stone into the future.

I think you are 100% correct. I also think latin America is passing the US, in this area. I think sheer necessity made it happen because of all the suffering the US has caused it. Too much suffering to ignore caused more people to act.

According to Eric Hoffer the 'suffering' will cause South America to react, but with a great deal more confrontation and bloodshed. It will be the more evolved countries that will step ahead of the US, like the European Union and possibly Britian. Their dominance of the US dollar may be the 'tell' that the US has missed the boat.
