the dear dubbies are already trying to get sweet with the charities Commission by opening their KH's to the community on certain days - OPEN DAYS

Gill - I'm curious what the KH's are doing on these "open days."

They are well aware that their 'charity status' is under threat and have a 'persecution alert' out because of this.

This is what I mean. We can't sit around on our fat backsides and do nothing. EVERY single complaint to the Charities Commission is taken note of. The more complaints against Watchtower that it receives the more likely the commission will act. Believe me, without the tax exemption that being a charity gives them the quicker the Tower will fall.

I've just written to Stonewall http://www.stonewall.org.uk/ the gay and lesbian movement to try and get its backing on this. The more people we have fighting and complaining against Watchtower injustices the better. My daughter is gay so I also have a particular interest in gaining Stonewall's support.

Don't let this action go cold. Let's really go to town on this one. Just think how many children can be saved from paedophilia, etc.

Just reading through the Charities Commission site and came across this:

    http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/Library/registration/pdfs/cosdecsum.pdf

Can somebody with time to read this report closely, and hopefully some legal nous check it out? If there is anything remotely similar between the Church of Scientology and JW's, there might be serious grounds for a legal challenge to their charitable status.

Also - does anyone know whether 'authority figures' within individual halls have had enhanced CRB checks. 'Authority figure' would include anyone to whom a child or vulnerable person 'looks up to' - elders, MS, sidespeople, microphone holders, whatever! If they haven't, it appears that as of this month they will be breaching their conditions as a charity.

    Off to read some more...

Well done, Emo. It's a long document all right but already this is interesting:

    That

CoS was not established for the charitable purpose of promoting the moral or

spiritual welfare and improvement of the community.

CoS = Church of Scientology and, as Emo has suggested, JWs may be similar in their "promotion". Let's get the beggars. E-mail the Charities Commission.

I just sent them an e-mail containing basically the same information I posted on this thread. I tried clicking the link and sending it, but for some reason Outlook Express doesn't like sending those messages. I tried with my regular WebMail, and it sent through that route. I hope they get the message, as well as any others, and investigate all the sources I put in with it. And, I hope they realize that the Watchtower Society is a cancer, not a charity.
