I think it is unrealistic to say we should round up all illegals and deport them but they are here and should have to at least back pay on their work visas and still have to play by the US rules by applying for citizenship . I believe corporations that encourage illegal activity should pay fines and penalties and we should sue the mexican government for encouraging and helping the illegals break our laws. I am not for a national ID card because it will turn into another tax for americans and will make private information available to people that are not entitled to it. Actually I think Bill O'eilly had some good ideas on the issue .

    4. Amend the laws that make children of illegals citizens.

Not gonna happen, not in a million years.

We need to do something about illegal immigration and we have to do it yesterday. I would start by giving work visas and allowing ppl to apply for citizenship after three years. We also need to do something about the lenght of time that it takes to process the paper work needed to become a citizen, I've heard of people waiting for over seven years to finally become citizens simply because that's how long it took their paper work to be completed. If they are paying the goverment all the required fees why in the hell do they have to wait that long? We have a very flawed system that needs to be fixed or things will never improve.

I was for this but there are to many that would just pay the fines. The better idea is if after an undercover agent finds that your company knowingly hires illegals the CEO will spend a minimum of one year in prison plus huge fines. Repeat offence ten years for the CEO and the company goes out of bussiness with the fines levied against it. If the company is deemed to important to lose then it is nationalized for ten years.

I know this Mexican who came to the USA illegally when he was ten years old.

His mother was/is illegal, and she was already living in the USA at that time.

I met him because he sometimes came to the K. Hall I attended at that time.

He went to public school and learned English. He speaks English without any accent now.

When he was about 16, his mother used those wide ranging Mexican contacts to get her son an ID that stated he was 18

so that he could get a job on a construction site with her then boyfriend.

So, this kid went to work full time for some big construction company doing masonry type work

for the better part of a year while his mother was pregnant and couldn't work.

He seemed to be a lot more mature than many other kids his age.

As soon as he could, he went back to high school and graduated, all the while still without being legal.

No matter what the "talking heads" have to say about the issue,

like I really give a fuck what left or right wing pundits and spin masters have to say anymore,

there are real human beings out there who are just trying to live, minding their own business,

and they will find ways to get what they need to survive no matter what some law says.

Yah but should they have the right to break the law ? The US is a legalistic tyranny and all citizens are required to obey the law . You can't just say the law only applies to legal people which is happening in alot of cases where illegals are involved in traffic violations of no insurance or driver license , they will do no time or pay a fine even.

you can't blame the illegals for coming here. if i was in their shoes, i would want to do the same thing, BUT, they are crippling our nation. hospitals are having to close down because of the amount of uninsured people brought to them. wages are starting to plummit. espically here, with all the construction going on. even with all the work here, legit business are straining to compete. the illegals don't have to pay taxes, or any of the other business expenses that legit contractors have to. it's not fair. then they do the jobs for way less, do a substandard job, and disappear so you have no recourse.

we don't need to deport them, just take away the sugar, and the ants will go away. stop using our tax dollars to educate their children and give them many benefits we as americans don't even have. my sister is trying to get my niece into pre-school but, can't because now it's completly reserved for illegal immagrants children.

there is a re-conquista going on, and it's organised. there are websites dedicated to it.

one other thing, if mexico was so horrible that you want to leave it, leave all of it. don't try to make america into another third world country. come here to better yourself. learn our language, salute our flag, pay our taxes, and be an american. i think alot more people will be accepting to them if they did this. it's not a racial thing, it's a patriotic thing. i am proud of this country and don't want to see it go down the drain.

if you want to come here and be a productive member of society, and contribute to the system, then, by all means, welcome. don't come here to rape our country.

I have tried to say it better, but I can't.

WE ARE NOT AGAINST MEXICAN ILLEGALS.

To be in favor of supporting the 'rule of law' on our borders is not racist.

By the way, I tried to work and sell in Mexico. You can't do it. The government will kick your ass.

The really sad part is that we shouldn't even have to be having this discussion right now.

Twenty years ago we were promised that if we accepted amnesty for millions of folks already here illegally, then the government would secure the borders and this wouldn't ever be a problem again. Is it any wonder that folks don't trust the government on this issue anymore? Really, giving many millions more amnesty without securing the border will just encourage even more to come on over. Ignoring the problem, as our politicians did for decades, changed our country in some very unpleasant ways. I personally can't see how continuing to ignore the problem, and to accept the same old amnesty solution that the Democrats shoved down our throats twenty years ago is going to make things better. The real winners are politicians where these people come from who get rid of their own problems at our expense.

And really, laying the fault for all the problems of the world at our feet does no good either. The first thing is that it isn't really so. Sure, one can argue that our misplaced support for dictators during the cold war had consequences which were unanticipated. But how does that really make the situation our fault seventeen years later? Folks down there have had plenty of time to make their situation better. But they haven't. The blame really needs to be placed where it really belongs, with those in control down south who like things as they are.
