Beautiful thoughts. Funny how sometimes inescapable pain can only be vented through art. The clarity is there for those of us who have lived it and his words express what his heart silently saw and felt.

You are blessed to have eachother. And we are blessed to know you.

Absolutely no problem. I can't believe how paranoid I was a year ago.

My brother actually is the author and he just doesn't want it plastered up on web sites, willy-nilly, with someone else taking authorship credit. Especially if the web site was one he would have serious personal issues with, gay-bashing for example.

    OM

OM, I can PM you about this as well if that would be more appropriate (and give you my blog URL) - I am wondering if I may post this on one of my blogs, and of course give credit to its rightful author. It's just so powerful the more I reflect on this poem and I really want to get it out into more people's minds and hearts. The general public doesn't know about the Witnesses' awful shunning rules.

Also, I realize that I built a wall too. To protect myself in a way from all the hurt I was feeling by being rejected by my family. Now it's been well over a year and I'm slowly taking my side of the wall down. It's hard going but my heart will always be with my family. So I persevere.

THANK YOU, Open Mind, and Open Mind's brother!

    wings:

    Thank you.

    Snakes:

    OTWO...

Wrong guy. OTWO has two of these: "O".
OM only has one. Maybe someday I'll grow another.

Glad you liked my bro's poem. It is very troubling to read when you have been a "tie-and-book" man yourself.

Where are you at in the whole JW thing?

Still in for family. Still working on my JW wife and unbaptized kids. I strongly feel that in my situation it's the best way to slowly plant seeds at the very best moments.

    Layla33:

    Thanks.

He should communicate with the man that is writing the book about DFd people

    Who are you talking about?

    crazyblondeb:

Do you mind if I email a copy (taking no credit) to a jw relative?

Not at all. Personal use is fine. And my brother probably wouldn't mind it being hosted on many web sites as long as they don't claim authorship or "edit" it to make it suit their particular world view. Some don't like the word "Christian" being used as it is in the poem and I fully understand that. But it's how he wrote it.

    Awakened at Gilead:

I am preparing for this by establishing a life outside of JWs - exJWs and non-JWs, so that once the DF or DA hits, it will be of minimal consequence to me....

One of many JWD pearls of wisdom.

    alamb:

    Thank you.

    back at you.

    GoddessRachel:

No problem using it on your blog.

Just don't say you wrote it ( I know you wouldn't ) and don't change the wording.

As for the author, just say you read it on Jehovahs-witness.com and link to this thread.

Thanks for asking. Nice blog BTW.

    Dear gods, that's beautiful.

I'm so happy you are back in touch with him, after all these years.

Agh. It boggles the mind. The poem is wonderful.

Thank you snakes, momz & Baba.

Shall I give it a bump next year for the next crop of newbies?

    Bump for 2009.

Update: My Bro & I are doing fine. My kids, although active, non-baptized JWs, are getting to be less & less homophobic. Wife still isn't ready to break the rules and hang out with him on a social level. Even if it was covert and done out of town. Who knows what another year will bring?

OM - Good to "see" you again!!

I reread the poem and still am moved by it. I still can't believe that an organization that claims to be Christian could treat people this poorly (then again - Christians burned folks at the stake in the past)

Good news on your kids still not being baptized and their being a little more accepting of their uncle. Baby steps!
