Okay...I am so out of touch...but I think me and a few of my brood may be there.

We have a thing the night before, but will make it if we can. My 7 year old was asking about when we were going to do the "thing with those little lobsters" again this year hahah...

Nice to see your kids stomach is in the right place and he enjoyed all that upbuilding spiritual food. Hope you can come - I call them lil lobsters too!

Yay, eyebrow2!!! I was going to email you today in case you hadn't seen this.

The food is coming along nicely:

Crawfish -- IP_SEC (need large bag of corn, potatoes, onions, andouille sausage)

Ham -- hambeak (so appropriate!) (hambeak, if you're not up to doing the ham, let me know and I can do it. I don't want you to stress yourself after your heart attack.)

    Rotisserie chickens -- me

LIVE Dungeness crabs -- new boy (unless they're cheaper here or are confiscated by the airline as WMDs)

    Hot dogs & buns

Salad & dressings -- potato salad: horrible life & hubby; salad: Brigid

    Other veggies

Chips & dip -- Arrowstar (thanks, darlin'!!)

Cheese -- Irreverent (and it's the good Wisconsin stuff too -- yum!)

    Rolls -- fatfreek & wife

    Fruit

Desserts (can't have too many!) (if all goes well, our daughter's fundraiser cookie dough will come in and I'll make some cookies) -- hemplover, cruzanheart, . . .

DRINKS, both alcoholic and non (remember, we'll have kids there so we'll need soft drinks as well as the omnipresent beer) -- hemplover, colorado5591, Irreverent

Disposable plates, cups, cutlery, paper towels -- Xena & Little Toe; horrible life & hubby

Old newspapers to spread out while we eat the crawfish

    Garbage bags -- colorado5591

Folding tables & chairs -- hey, on this last one, does anyone in the DFW area have any folding tables we could borrow, the long kind? I have tables but they're not the folding kind -- we always just dragged them out of the garage and into the backyard, but it will be impossible to drag them across town to Elsewhere's apartment clubhouse.

Also, just FYI, we have the use of the clubhouse exclusively, but the pool area is public so we'll be sharing that with the other residents of the apartment complex.

Would it be too corny for everybody to have some sort of nametag so we could recognize the JWD persona or avatar when we meet them?

We've done that before -- let me see what I can come up with . . .

I posted in this thread a while ago, but I think it got lost in the shuffle. If someone could provide me with directions, and any reccomendations on food I could bring that'd be appriciated.

    TO REITERATE:

    Hotel scoop:

The Hilton Garden Inn (7516 Las Colinas Blvd., Irving, TX 75038, telephone 972/444-8434) is the closest hotel to Party Central, i.e., Elsewhere's apartment complex. Their rates are really good: $71 per night if you pay in advance and $79 per night gets you a full breakfast too. I left a message for their sales director to call me about group rates, but I'll bet we won't get any better than this. You can make reservations online at www.lascolinas.stayhgi.com or on the Hilton Hotels website.

The Marriott's SpringHill Suites (5800 High Point Drive, Irving, TX 75038, telephone 972/580-1120) charges $99 per night. It's a little further away from Elsewhere's but looks lovely. I talked with their sales director about group rates and she made a big show about giving me $99 per night if we book 10 rooms or more, but you can get the same rate online at www.marriott.com, so big deal.

    Ok, Nina,

Not sure what I am bringing...but it will be something. depends on time and such...

Almost got stuck in jury duty for a week (possibly, at the least) but I was not picked. So tomorrow I am back to the sewing machine...working on some things! It is pretty sad when you are worried about messing up a "fest" weekend by being a juror. I did not get back from todays adventure till 7. Talk about a long day on those hard benches! It took till way after half after five to tell us the choices. I was feeling pretty silly as I drove home thinking I could now focus on the fest. Silly eh?
