The organization's chief method of responding to negative publicity is to attack the messenger.

Rutherford raised personalized attacks to a withering art form throughout the 1930s to the point where one of his victims, Olin Moyle, won a court case against Rutherford's arrogant slander.

But that did not stop the avalanche of personalized attacks issued by the Watchtower Society.

In Knorr's day it continued but - once bitten, twice shy - the organization stopped short of naming names. Even so, it assigned labels to those who dared question the organization. For decades, the most pejorative label was "evil slave class" which covered a multitude of individuals who had raised concerns about the rot inside the organization. If you belonged to the "evil slave class" you were beyond hope of redemption.

Astonishingly, in the past year or two, the GB have new light on the parable of the evil slave, announcing without blushing that it never referred to a specified group but was just...a parable. Who'd have thought?!

In more recent decades, the label "apostate" has come to the forefront of the organization's attacks. If you are labelled an "apostate" the organization does not need to respond to what you have said. It simply calls you an apostate, makes a few negative allegations about what apostates are like and no consideration of the issue is presented - or if it is presented, it is a blatant distortion of which Lett's catty side-swipe is a perfect example.

In consideration of Stephan Lett's talk, the entailing question remains .....

Are the law courts in California apostates ?

Is the Public Broadcasting Station (PBS) who aired this particular law suit apostates ?

Are those select elders from the Freemont congregation apostates since it was their activity and conduct which eventually caused this law suit to happen in the first place ?

What about those other numerous law suits that were secretly settled out of court which the WTS paid out a huge amount to hush up the activity by elders in congregations ?

Sorry Stephan but making up lies in an effort to cover over the culpable activities within the organization in which you lead doesn't make a truth, it just makes you look like a devious corrupt apathetic idiot yourself.

He may not be lying. He may very well believe what he said. Also, is it really fair to say the "Organization" is permissive in regards to child abuse? They have definitely mishandled everything, resulting in a huge FUBAR situation.

I have not listened to his talk, so I don't what he said, exactly. I'm positive it's inaccurate and slanted towards his target audience, which is Uber-dubs at HQ and elsewhere.

Lett's wording of permissive is misleading in itself. it implies the connotation that the WTS just lets pedophilia by its members unattended without flagrant concern.

What the WTS has been doing is using the two witness rule for this kind of behavior, which has dropped many situations that arouse and when it was determined that there was a confirmed occurrence, they simply just DF the individual and promote the hushing up of the situation by both the victim and the accused.
