AAWA, J M____ E______, and me

Yes, I was one of the "force adds" to AAWA. I do not have as much at stake as other faders or lurkers, and I truly feel for their vulnerability. What they (AAWA) do not get is that others are in very sensitive situations with family and friends that are still in the religion.

Initially, I was not against AAWA or Cedars. I was not one of Cedars bashers, I never said a negative word about him prior to the debacle over privacy on Facebook. I understood his wanting privacy in his personal life, and keeping his true identity anonymous here as many ex-JW's do.

Initially, I was upset when I found out that one of my friends got outed by them. I did get into a verbal clash with Cedars, considering his cavalier attitude about other faders privacy, and him not being affected at all as the President of the group that outed other faders. Very hypocritical IMHO!

That being said, I have another experience with the major "force add" jerk that is a member of AAWA. I have to thank Besty for posting who added who to AAWA.

I know a lot of you do not know J Mason Emerson, but I had a problem with him "force adding" people to groups he set up in Facebook in the past. He is not an ex-JW, but has daughters that are still in the religion. He was on here in the past, trying to convert people to his brand of christianity on his personal website. I at one point had friended him on Facebook.

He started groups called "Ex-JW's in (State name)" , for all 50 states. He force added me to the group for my state, and it was an open group! I told him that he couldn't do that, and that he was making it easy for Brooklyn to round up faders. He responded by saying that they would be better off in the long run if they were out. He had no concept of the sensitive nature of a faders privacy and did not care. I made one very terse comment on that group, warning anyone that needed to keep their identity private as a fader should leave the group immediately. I promptly did, and unfriended J Mason Emerson.

Now I see that he is in AAWA, and with that track record along with 400+ adds, he apparently learned nothing. I will never be in a group where he is an active member.

There is no confidentiality in a group that he is an active member of.

Did any of you have a similar experience with JME?

I don't know him, but is he the man behind the "Christian Witnesses? I think it was Outlaw that mentioned something about those CW and a potential bogus group.

One piece of advice I hope the AAWA listens to:

Not everyone who offers to help will actually 'help' so be wary of who you accept. There are some people you need to turn away otherwise they will drag the AAWA down and ruin it. I'm talking about even being allowed to be seen to be associating with the group, let alone given any amount of trust or people's information shared with them.

Has anybody called Facebook and suggested that they're going to hear from a lawyer if this doesn't stop?

Thanks Tylin. I figured his M.O. would be the same with others. A leopard does not change his spots! I appreciate you confiming my experience.

Yes, and I will add, at the time I had a dozen active JWs on my facebook that kept me in the loop on a lot of information I needed. My MIL was also on my FB. When JME added me to the L.A. Ex Jehovah's Witnesses, I had a shitstorm of explaining to do and lost some important contacts.

JME are you listening? AAWA? Here lies a problem.

I am sorry for you having to deal with that shitstorm Tylin. I had a few bloodhounds on the trail when that happened to me too.
