this is quite awkward for me to give! our elder gave me that assignment last week and should be delivered next week on the theocratic ministry school. considering i have very unconventional views for the WTS about blood, evolution, bible, and the GB, delivering this talk seemd quite maladroit. any suggestions and ideas?

Well now you should be quite familiar with apostates and should have plenty to work with! sorry, not much help. Do they think you have apostate leanings and that is why they gave the talk to you? Tell them they are easy to identify by the horns and tail.

Wow, I dont remember this talk years ago. Perhaps you could lead them away in a different direction. I dont know how to clarify this, but perhaps you could give them all the wrong hints so they will be looking in the wrong direction for apostates.

Dude, this is your golden opportunity!

Tell them what an "apostate" really is...fill your talk with examples that almost, but not quite, identify the Watchtower Society as apostatizing from Bible teachings. Just enough to make the audience uncomfortable, but not so much that you get busted.

I think Sir has the right idea! try googling are jw's apostates or something, I'm think there is a page somewhere that claims jw's are the real apostates. Work from there.

Or you could pick out the most self righteous sanctimonius elders in your congregation, and pull out some of their traits, and everyone in that congregation will be looking at them suspiciously. Of course dont mention them by name.

Oh Dear I feel sorry for you!!

Well, you could get violently sick, OR you could give a talk about what apostacy is according to the scriptures, not the literature. Apostacy according to the scriptures is the anti-Christ, as I am sure you are very well aware. You could spend 5 min. on going into what that means.

    Sincerely,

    Lady Liberty

P.S. They must be scared to death at how many are finding the truth out and leaving. So they want to label them all to put the fear of God into everyone else. What information do they want you to use in giving your talk?? Let us know how it goes.

I would take them to 2 Thess 2:3 where the word is used in Greek

Greek terminology is falling away from the faith or truth

What is the truth? John 17:17 Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth

1 Cor 4:6 Now, brothers, these things I have transferred so as to apply to myself and A·pol´los for YOUR good, that in our case YOU may learn the [rule]: “Do not go beyond the things that are written,” in order that YOU may not be puffed up individually in favor of the one against the other.

Matt 7:1,2 Stop judging that YOU may not be judged; 2 for with what judgment YOU are judging, YOU will be judged; and with the measure that YOU are measuring out, they will measure out to YOU .

Ask them who is the apostate IF taken strictly from the Bible?

Hebrews 5:12-14 12 For, indeed, although YOU ought to be teachers in view of the time, YOU again need someone to teach YOU from the beginning the elementary things of the sacred pronouncements of God; and YOU have become such as need milk, not solid food. 13 For everyone that partakes of milk is unacquainted with the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. 14 But solid food belongs to mature people, to those who through use have their perceptive powers trained to distinguish both right and wrong.

Ask them from the scriptures, it would seem that "we" have apostasized from the written Word of truth as all religions have done so, tell them "we" are no better than those "we" condemn and for that reason you are following Christ's words through John at Rev 22:18,19 “I am bearing witness to everyone that hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone makes an addition to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this scroll; 19 and if anyone takes anything away from the words of the scroll of this prophecy, God will take his portion away from the trees of life and out of the holy city, things which are written about in this scroll.

Tell them that unless it comes straight from the Bible you don't want to hear it, it is the voice of men and not God.

It should be your last talk!

Well, you can cancel due to "sickness" or you can have some fun with it. The level of fun you can have with it depends on how much you care whether or not you get DF'd.

How about reminding them that "apostates" are not the only ones who use signboards? The Watchtower Society used that tactic many years ago too when they were just starting out in their, ummmm, apostasy from mainstream Christianity.
