So the PO confirmed what many on this board already know. At latest round of CO to Elders meeting, the CO quoted from the Society outline. Any elder or MS who encourages college for his kids or others or who allows his children to go to college will no longer qualify.

He then asked if I was going to take the COs encouragement and reach out again to be an elder and get my hours on the ministry up.

I replied "I will never be an elder again - I strongly approve of further education and college and have been through college myself. With the society policy on education, I would immediately be removed as I would encourage further education"

You could have heard a pin drop - the silence spoke volumes.

So there you have it folks. I will never be an elder again as I am a passionate believer in higher education.

    Wow!

We have our next CO coming up fairly soon. I'll try to verify if that is in the official outline, or if it was just that particular CO spouting off his own opinion.

Talk about shooting themselves in the foot!

    Way to go Stilla.

This is going to be interesting as in the area I live in, a larger than normal amount of JW kids go to college and graduate. Just about all of the elders in my old congregation had children in college. I'm sure the borg will turn their screws on my sister in law again.

I guess this is a last push to get the thinkers out of the organization

    That's insane!

BTW, I'm graduating from college with a BA next week, so you know I'll never be an elder again (of course, I'll never be a JW either, lol)

It would really be cool if some interprising, disgruntled elder or closet apostate could get their hands on this outline, get it scanned and posted on the Internet.

    (hint hint, wink wink)

Unfortunately many do not see this until its too late for them to get an education or to do anything about it....I wish people really could wake up now. It seems

the way people are talking lately they feel something is in the wind other then the big A.

Allows? When a "child" turns 18 they're considered an adult. How can you hold a man responsible for what his adult child decides to do? If that threat is true, the WTS is really reaching.

No way! I didn't know this. In my former hall ALL the elder's kids went to college/university.

    Wow.
