At the last elders school I heard from a few different attendees that the average age was easily 60+. There will be a lot of elders gone within the next 10yrs. There is nowhere near enough young brothers to replace these ageing elders. This is going to be a huge burden on the society fairly soon.
This is a big problem depending how close this is to most of the congregations. Elders get dumped ith a lot of work and it's much harder if u are 70. Without shepherds, the flock will scatter
I think this problem will be self-solving. Sure, nobody wants to be an elder, but JW's in general are dying off.
They will keep merging congregations, not only to have 5 elders per congregation as they drop off, but to maintain close to 100 publishers or so as they drop off too.
That's my hope.

Very true. Thats probably why they are on a frantic campagne to recruit more men. They are constantly saying the need to go at a time when men are at home, or if the woman answers, then ask for the man of the house. So very true
In "our circuit" in Colorado this certainly holds true. Every elder in "our hall" is very late 50s or early 60s. The ministerial servants dont hils any promise except one....but he will probably become a young CO or something.

The age demographic of most JWS has gradually climbed, the baby boomer's are getting older now, which at one time there were
many young people in Kingdom Halls, with lots of kids running around. Back in the 60's and 70's there was a sea of kids and young adults,
today thats not the case.
Young people + internet = stagnant growth in the WTS
I was thinking of this same topic over the weekend. The ones who are getting baptized are mostly family members and I read that about 70-75% of children do not come in. If you look around most of the elders are older and not that many young ones are in positions. I too can see in the near future where there will be a huge shortage unless they just start putting anyone in pants in a position of oversight. I really believe with the Internet a lot of the young ones look everything up and they are not buying into the crap like previous generations did. I would give anything to see a huge collapse of this religion. The damage they have done is so great!
