  Wife fully awake.

  i learned this past week that my wife is now awake.

  i just shared the pbs newshour segment with her with no comment other than something along the lines of, "jw story on pbs.".

  she is furious at the arrogance of these men.. thats what happens when you get a momma angry!.

  As it turns out, my wife is pretty much in the same boat as yours. I think the only difference is that she has a hard time admitting that she could be just as happy with any other religion. Her faith is pretty marginal to the basic teachings (no stealing, no cross, no trinity, preaching bla bla bla). None of the other bull, but, I believe what happens is that she has no memories of her previous religions (she was too young then) and so she did take on WT idea that all other religions teach only lies and none of them preach like the JW

  That is it! and that isn't the only scripture I felt about. Just like you, being a JW as well as having experienced other religions, I had always questioned my own spirituality. Always felt left out. Why is it that I don't feel like crying, just like everyone around me? Why is it that I don't feel excited about the upcoming assembly, just like everyone claims they are?

  It wasn't until I decided to read the bible, unbiassed, that I felt those words working on me. They actually have a meaning now. I, for once, cried inside of me. So far, I am the only one crying in this crowd and I wonder... what is wrong with them? why are they not crying in joy just like me?

  this little flying & land machine reminded me of "jehovah's chariot" on the move.

  except instead of wheels within wheels & millions of eyeballs, this has helicopter rotor things in the wheels.

  Online WT article: Religion - How Should It Be Financed?

  in light of the recent letter read to congregations, it would be good to review the article they have on financing religion.

  while jehovah's witnesses do not practice tithing, they sure do have a way of getting that proverbial plate round the congregations.. for those not familiar with the recent letter to congregations in the us, here is a snippet... wts bills us jws $8.4 million for traveling overseers.

  And since I was not around when this other thing happened, what was the issue they fought in France? I remember it was mentioned in assemblies as one of the many legal battles Jehovah fought for them and won. I also remember taxes were an issue.

  Any ideas?

  If I understood correctly from the original story, this means the WT will be investigated as originally intended. This is on itself good, although the results from the investigation may not lead to anything (we sure hope it does), specially with the kind of political push happening in the UK right now.

  Correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't more prosecution make them believe that the attack of Gog of Magog have begun? If so, wouldn't it be easier to show them that their prediction was wrong as the false religions should have been attacked first?

  New donation arrangement in action locally

  recently they announced at my hall that a large donation had been made to the local congregation-- nearly $100,000.

  they then proposed a resolution that we continue our new(ish) practice of only keeping enough money on hand locally for monthly expenses, and send the entire amount of this large donation to the watchtower society.

  aside from the fact that our congregation has already sent well over a half-million dollars to the wt in the last 12 months, i don't understand the motive of the person who made the donation.

  Although you could also use the annuity arrangement and get a better long term tax plan.
