some who have been prominent in Jehovah's organization have succumbed to immoral practices, including homosexuality, wife swapping, and child molesting (WT 1/1/86 p13)
Wait a minute? Prominent? Aren't they supposed to be slaves to us? Aren't they supposed to "wash our feet?"StarTrekAngel

Child Abuse must be getting out of hand if they're addressing it...
by thedepressedsoul ini'm referring to the video that was uploaded where they finally mentioned the child abuse issue.
we all kinda guessed that if they ever addressed it they'd blame it on the media and apostates.
well, looks like we were spot on.

Advice needed on Crisis of Conscience
by cappytan inso, some of you may have seen my thread from yesterday about my wife waking up.. we had further discussion yesterday evening after i sent her the pbs video on the abuse scandals plaguing the watchtower.
she was so furious and pissed off at wt hq.
apparently a close relative of her's was abused by an elder and the only reason he was reproved and removed as an elder was because he confessed.

Well, I respectfully disagree. There is a certain urgency. The urgency comes from the fact that while we seat patiently waiting, not allowed to speak, caught up in dealing with day to day matters regarding our life, eight individuals up in Bethel have a full time job dedicated to combating what we know and what we could possibly say. Every slow step you take, they could be ahead of you by miles.
With this I am not saying you should rush into things. There is a time for everything, but synergy is always good. I think it should be treated like the Tai chi of indoctrination.

I think she should see the video where Lett so blatantly lies, specially if the subject of child abuse is fresh in her mind. Why read about and old lie, written long ago if you have a recent one? Specially if you compare that the book is a PDF you get online, against a video of their own channel? Not that the book is bad, but if you weight them both, which one is refutable and which one is not?
Also, you could just tell her what chapter to read, regarding the dfing of Ray Franz and then let her own curiosity drive her to read on her own.

The Watchtower organization's crime against humanity
by TerryWalstrom inwho are the real heroes of society?.
are they not the people who are doctors and nurses and teachers and firemen and policemen and counselors and humanitarians?.
because of the watchtower organization, we are missing generations of those kinds of heroes who will not exist (but could have) because jehovah's witnesses destroyed them by convincing millions of it's members those professions are meaningless and unimportant for them to pursue.

I think the true crime against humanity are the lives lost in false teaching, upheld with lies. Every time you get a debate regarding faith and belief, it always steers away from the true issue. The true issue is not wether you are entitled to exercise your own belief. The true issue is wether your belief is personal or implanted by others. Any belief implanted by someone else that results in your physical or emotional harm is a crime and the law should prosecute it. -

The other piece is probably also related to the impending gay rights, but that may take longer. I've seen articles online arguing over matters of tax exemptions. Many argue that there is no way the government can take their tax status away because of their religious practices, others argue the government can only allow the practices but does not have to support them by mean of financial incentives, specially if such practices are discriminatory in the eye of the law. I happen to agree with the second opinion. Just like any other non-profit, if you discriminate, the government does not have to support you

I don't know if it is the quantity that is driving this damage control campaign. I think they are seeing the writing on the wall and preparing the flock for the inevitable mass media coverage that will eventually happen. I have been wondering if all that is pending is the final judgment in the appeals of the Conti case before the media takes on it, being that this is the first case to ever see trial. This is why they are changing the definition of Gog of Magog. A media "attack" on the org would be the first visible signs of the "attack" and would drive those who have been eagerly awaiting for a sign, to dig deeper into their indoctrination.

WOW! Had a discussion about these pins and things few months back with my wife. I pointed out to her how idolatrous this was. Obviously she attempted to justify it saying that this was just some brothers who probably don't realize what they are doing. I told her that might be, but where are the elders? Told her that may be but that if in a few months those things were not addressed, then I had to assume they were seen as approved and that anyone who would see that out on the streets would condemn us for idolatry. Not only it has not been addressed by the elders, this gal is wearing it in front of the very man with the most strict views.
This pin is WTS approved.

Stop Lying About JWs, Herbert Armstrong's "Plain Truth" Carts were not before JW Carts!
by JWCartPusher ini had a man walk by the cart and say "hey, you guys are now catching up the herbert armstrong's literature carts from the 1970s!
he wanted to know if our organization move's at the pace of "evolution" when it comes to adapting to social norms, what madness is he speaking about?
did herbert armstrong's crew have "the plain truth carts" in front of stores before jws had literature carts?

LOL.. definitely I would say your vision is short, not pass your top shelf (or whichever part you consider to be your nose) pressing buttons? that is so 80's. Think bigger... with your answers being so standardized, it would not be difficult at all to have them add their own version of Siri. A small solar panel would get you going all day. -

Excited about the CO visit
by StarTrekAngel induring the many years of being a jw, i could never really bring myself to be exited about the co's visit.
this has been an issue that always kept me wondering back to religions.
why could not feel the same happiness that made everyone around me cry during the sunday service?

In over 10 years of attending CO visits, only once our congo was "corrected" publicly. And it wasn't a big deal. Some brothers were changing congos because they did not get along well with one another. I guess we were superstars. LOL
I am hoping this visit will bring some change around as we have some old elders who refuse to leave the old ways. Not that I care, but I would like to see some of them brought to reality. There is one particular individual who is extremely arrogant, I am almost positive he abuses his wife emotionally and I have a screenshot of his internet habits that would not go well with the CO, but I am keeping that one a secret for now.
