A few years ago I heared several people comment..."We used to say, Armageddon is just around the corner, but now we're round the corner and armageddon is staring us inthe face" I think I first heard tis at an assembly somewhere. I'm sure there were lots of oohs and aahs.

Apostates commit the unforgivable sin and will NOT be resurrected.
by gumby ini posted this on another thread....but as usual, when i posted it, the thread died and so i thought i'd put it under a different subject as it's worth re-reading.. the society has always said nobody is the judge who commits the dreaded...."unforgivable sin", but they sure the hell do not having any trouble making a statement concerning apostates as commiting the unforgivable sin.. 1982 watchtower 4/1 p.26-28 .
" jesus told the unrepentant scribes and pharisees that they and their gentile proselytes were subjects for gehenna or, literally, sons of gehenna.
(matthew 23:15, 33-35; see also john 9:39-41; 15:22-24.

Yeah I'm shaking in my boots too. I remember vividly one day sitting in a meeting and looking around and thinling theres no way I'd want to spend an eternity with these people and be ruled over by a wacko org. The further I got away from the borg the more I liked the people on the outside. I think it's the old carrot and stick tactic...do as we say and you won't die infact you'll live in paradise..think for yourself or question us, and it's gehenna for you.

Trying to get people to "support" pioneers!
by LongHairGal inthis was one topic that used to make me furious!
here the bible makes it perfectly clear that back then they supported their own ministry by working.
there is also the scripture about "counting the cost" implying that one should not undertake any project without making an assessment as to whether or not they could do it.

I was a pioneer and I was at bethel too, all I ever remember getting was an old couch to put my room. Money??? What money, I was always flat broke and just after I entered bethel they put a stop to th "G" jobbing. I think the long time inmates who had built up some kind of fame through assembly parts etc. and connections with those who wanted to treat the Lords brothers well did OK and drove around in nice cars (J.Barr) but for the rest of us peons it was rough financially.

The Atheist's Book of Bible Stories - Ch. 12 - The Flood
by RunningMan inwell, i've been waiting for a long time to post this one.
it's my personal favorite.
some angels became inflamed with lust for human women and took on human form.

Good work! I always thought the polar icecaps were the strongest natural evidence against a literal flood, but I never connected the dots as far as angelic sexuality, I like it. How would the Borg get around this?

First time on here- DF'd almost 3 years ago
by feelinglost ini have toyed around with the idea of finding fellow df'd ones for about a year now.
i recently got married, and of course it has made me look at how it feels like i gave up one life for another.
the only member of my family who is a jw is my mother- and it kills me that we pretty much no longer have a relationship.

Welcome, this is a great place to be and posting can become an addictive pleasure. Prior to coming here I had no one to vent to that really understood what it's like in the Borg. This is good for the soul.

Sport and JWs!!!
by zagor injust wondering what your experiences are.
were you "encouraged" not to devote time to personal exercise, gym or sport in general?
i remember this one time co gave a talk how "we do not need sport" then he proceeded to explain how walking up the stairs in field service was exercise enough for our legs, then how we didn't need any stretching exercise as making gestures while explaining the bible verses would do the job, and so on.

I'd like to see leagues made up of various denominations...Kingdom Hall vs All Saints Catholic... Etc Do you think there's any chance? Do you think some witnesses might enjoy it?
