ok everyone, just some fun here - no i haven't got wind of any change in the pipeline but, if the watchtower bible and tract society were to ditch the name watchtower altogether, what would they call the watchtower magazine instead?
all suggestions warmly welcomed......

here is a scan of the chapter on do you value life as god does?.
.
.
How many of the rank and file really understand the breakdown on blood in this chapter?
How many are dependant on someone else to explain this to them?
How many elders will actually help explain it to the elderly and those under pressure who don't really understand the difference between whole blood and fractions.
No one in a positon of responsibility wants to get invovled with the legal entanglements that could follow if they make any kind of personal recommendation to a member of the rank and file and that one dies because of the tort of misrepresentation.
Many will just simply stick to the no blood policy and refuse a life saving blood transfusion thinking that by doing so it will keep them in Jehovah's Love

Anyone know or have an update on "The Tort of Misrepresentation" that was filed against The Watchtower Society by a lawyer named ???Kerry Woods??? She is not a witness, however, her mother who was one died becauses of not taking a life saving blood transfusion. She is using "The Tort of Misrepresentation" to sue the society for wrongful death.
It's been awhile since we heard anything further or updated on this case. Anyone remember, this was a big announcement some time ago. What happened since then.
It seems the society is sticking to their guns with this new release and is not worried about this "Tort of Misrepresentation" suit.

in paragraph 16 of the first study artice.
.
they are being very vague, but it is obvious that they are trying to stir up speculation/excitement.. the entire magazine appears to be about the house to house ministry.
What happened to the work that was spearheaded by Paul and suppose to end by the end of the twentieth century. It did not happen, so, lets move to within the twenty first century, yeah that's the ticket and then the twenty second century and on and on for another hundred years, if they are still around that long..

had a long conversation with my mom tonight and we went back and forth for over an hour regarding the wt.
she said something tonight that kind of left me speechless as i've never heard anything like this one before.
the wt is right because... .
32 pages! However the most important part of the 32 pages use to be the study articles which went from about 40 paragraph in the seventies to about 20 paragraph today. Does that count?

i'm not much of a poster here, but the passing of my mom on friday is as good a reason as any.. she was in deep, no doubt will be refered to as "faithful to the end" by those who eulogize her.
this new chapter in my life of course has me is a reflecive mood.
i'm sure when she was diagnosed with cancer 4 years ago that her hope was that the "new system" would come before she succumbed.
We grieve with you.Grief is normal and the passing of time does not always lessing the blow. My mom died in my arms some 30 years ago and I can never get through this.
All the best with your grandchild.

there are continuing rumors about changes that are going to be made in the elder arrangement.
while these are still only rumors, i wish .
to repeat that the society must be under pressure to make legally motivated changes to the elder structure.. first, the appointment of elders seems to be much more direct than the appointment of most priests or pastors in common religions.. that might be a problem leading directly to the governing body.. more than that, there is a clearly defined hierarchy going up from local elders thru the c.o.
It is all about liability. Legal, not Holy Spirit, is guiding The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. The Governing Body listens to legal, as to whether they still use the two thirds vote behind closed doors, is any body's guess.

Thanks V and D. This one should be slipped in at the District Convention. I can see the elders rushing to find out where it came from.
Seriously, one of the best and insightful. It cannot be overturned by the writers at headquarters. They must be burying their heads in the sand. Who actually wrote this one? JR. Brown?

it was 1969 when i answered that first knock.

it was suggested that i write a letter to the catholic chruch where i was baptized and disavow my baptism, that i no longer considered myself a catholic.
Tom and FHN. You both have been very helpful to me. I have to digest this, it will take some time. Thanks for your support.

Thanks Tom, I have always wondered with wonder where and how persons like yourself get your convictions from. Does Jesus really make himself known to you without any ambiguity, with a certainty that does not rely on a book to sought out the truth about his existence.
