The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has signed an executive order, ordering the release of all imprisoned Jehovah’s Witnesses in the country, local media reports.
The order cancels more than 100 criminal cases that were been opened against Jehovah’s Witnesses, and releases 24 people in prison who were awaiting or on trial, and a similar number under house arrest. The group’s Publications that were on a list of banned literature in Russia have also had the ban lifted.
Putin said on a state television that upon sober reflection and broader consultation involving religious leaders in Russia, human rights activists and members of the judiciary, he’s convinced that Judges who sat on these trials erred and might have ruled based on their personal convictions against Jehovah’s Witnesses.
He went ahead to assure Russians that the religious activities of the group would continue to be monitored despite clearing them fit to go ahead with their activities
A ban on Jehovah’s Witnesses came into full force in Russia after a court dismissed an appeal against the group’s classification as an “extremist” organisation.
The British and American governments were among those raising human rights concerns over the prohibition, which liquidated the group’s administrative centre near St Petersburg and 395 local religious organisations.
Russia’s Supreme Court upheld the ruling, having previously decided in favour of the justice ministry’s characterisation of the Jehovah’s Witnesses as an “extremist organisation” whose members “pose a threat to the rights of the citizens, public order and public security”.
Judges ordered the closure of the group’s Russian headquarters, local chapters and the seizure of its property by the state.
Putin’s executive power, allowed by the Russian constitution, will see all the court rulings against the group reversed, including the release of liquidated assets.

These 6,000 are the approved delegates from overseas. You know, 'missionaries and full time servants'.
That is,,,, the elite.
Yes, they will be transported by charter bus to melton for which ever matinee or evening show they are assigned to.
On the day, local congs will be expected to take them out in field circus, feed them and 'entertain them' till the charter bus turns up to take them to melton.
At this stage, to my knowledge, no local jws apart from performers and ushers are invited to the concerts.
The total attendance including the 'elite' at Marvel stadium will be app 50 to 60 thousand.
There will be no seating on the playing field as last time.
And, yes, not all of Australian jws are invited to this 'international' convention.
Oh,,,,, a request has been put out for local publishers in Melbourne to offer lodgings to those 'special servants' from overseas that cannot afford suggested commercial lodging arrangements........ FARCICAL in my view.

Auditions were held up to some time ago.
Volunteers have also been interviewed recently to help as ushers etc apart from performers.

Ha ha,

Pope Francis introduced sweeping changes in Catholic Church law on Thursday local time to hold bishops accountable for sexual abuse or covering it up, making reporting obligatory for clerics and allowing anyone to complain directly to the Vatican if needed.
Key points:
The new rules cover the abuse of adults, as well as children, by clergy
The changes allow retroactive reporting and sets time limits on investigations
Those who report abuse can no longer be ordered to stay silent under new rules
The papal decree, which covers abuse of both children and adults, also obliges every Catholic diocese in the world to set up simple and accessible reporting systems and encourages local churches to involve lay experts in investigations.
The decree is the second such papal provision since a summit on abuse by senior Church bishops at the Vatican in February and comes after the Church was rocked in March by news of the conviction on charges of sex abuse of Australian cardinal George Pell, the highest-ranked Vatican official to be convicted.

It's the latest effort by Pope Francis to respond to the global eruption of the sex abuse and cover-up scandal that has devastated the credibility of the Catholic hierarchy and his own papacy.
And it provides a new legal framework for US bishops to use as they prepare to adopt accountability measures next month to respond to the scandal there.
"We have said for years that priests must conform to certain strict rules, so why shouldn't bishops and others in the hierarchy do the same?" said Cardinal Marc Ouellet, head of the Vatican office for bishops. "It's not just a law, but a profound responsibility."
It sets time limits for local investigations and the Vatican's response to them and allows for retroactive reporting.
It also says bishops with conflicts of interest should recuse themselves from investigations and that they can also be held accountable for abuse of power in sexual relations with adults.

The 19-article decree, called "Vos Estis Lux Mundi" (You Are the Light of the World), raises to 18 from 16 the age of adulthood in cases of sexual abuse. It also covers possession of child pornography.
The decree says local Church officials cannot order those who report abuse to remain silent and that senior bishops should make provisions to prevent documents from being destroyed by subordinates if needed.
Clerics should follow local law on whether they are obliged to report alleged sexual abuse to civil authorities.

one of my wall clocks, broken, tells the correct minute of time once in 24 hours every day. Yippeeee.
yesterday was the premiere, at least in our hall.
the special talk was given first time before the memorial and on stream, not live.. must haven been outstanding, right ?
well.... it was a rather underwhelming experience, nothing special.
Poorly delivered recruitment presentation.
Poor marketing.
Speaker was thoroughly boring. Some Uber jws I know even stated they were embarrassed.
jtg reporting from Oz.
i want to report a jw member (lebanon) for some issues.
can anyone help?.
@joe134cd.
Yes the Saba family. William Saba is currently a co in Melbourne / Victoria area here in Australia. He has connections in Lebanon.
His father who wasn't a jw passed away recently.
@Minae.
jw's don't take much notice of those not related to them by religion.
I would be careful as to whom you choose to tell. Humans can be quite vindictive when their perceived position in the jw hierarchy is threatened.
