this article appeared on friday may 9, 2014 in the herald sun newspaper in victoria australia.. matt johnston is a state politics reporter.. quote :" all religous ministers will need working with children checks and a new system will be created for organisations to report alleged child abuse,under a $ 10 million state government reform.".

premier denis napthine revealed the new measures,a further response to the state parliments`s child abuse inquiry report,betrayal of trust .. "many ordinary parish based ministers may not have required a wwc check.under this rule , every minister for religion who has any contact with children will require such a check ," he said.. opposition community services spokeswoman jenny mikakos called for the government to move quicker to "address the issues identified".

my concern is, will the watchtower org./jehovahs witnesses /jw.org.

Hey smiddy,

I've read the actual recommendations on this that are in place. An elder stated to me that

only appointed men were to get the wwcc. However the statutes require that volunteers

of any nature require one if there is a possibility of coming into unsupervised contact with children.

i.e. at the door, bible studies with minors etc. The statutes clearly name religious volunteers among others.

The card looks similar to the drivers licence and if you get the card for volunteering it has a V noted on it.

From memory I believe the volunteer wwcc cost is minimal and on the back of the card it states -

"The person identified on this card has passed a working with children check".

Followed by- "This card cannot be used to engage in child related work for profit or gain"

If you undertake employment you need to contact the authority and advise them of your employers details

and I believe the higher fee of $80.00 applies. It's issued by the Department Of Justice, Victoria.

The jw's are sticking their head in the sand on this one mate. Bottom line,,,,if you're a member of

a religious org. and you bang on doors you need one.

Just like when the do not knock stickers appeared,,,, The law clearly states that if the sticker does not

specify salespeople then the house holder has withdrawn the implied licence for you to knock, ( so piss off!!!!)

Then the aus branch eventually issued the letter basically stating the above, something like "respect the hh wishes"

The important thing is that reporting is now mandatory, (I'll have to double check,) and otoole and van wik (wt lawyers)

both said to the commission that if reporting abuse was mandatory then jw ministers would report it to the authorities.

dom halls and assembly halls.. .

@ jimbojones, the cong in my neck of the woods has done just that.

They circulated forms with instructions on how to make one off or regular direct debit

contributions to the local cong, even providing the BSB details on the slip.

It also outlined the process of writing a letter to the cong sec outlining

were the funds were to be allocated i.e. local cong or worldwide work.

No allocation and the direct debit will be forwarded to the worldwide work.

I seem to recall something like that being read from the platform over the last

coupla years. the slip we got didn't have any letter head but named the

bank account as *********** congregation of jw's

followed by BSB details.

IT'S HAPPENING.....

well i'm pretty dang sure that the lady was giving from the heart not because she filled out some dumba$$ piece of paper pledging two small coins several months previous!.

"especially not for the long haul, carpets, repairs, that's ok".

Was a disaster here

The elder handling the part read the letter then waffled on for the rest of

his allotted time and no one knew what the hell was going on.

He kept stressing how we should be generous but not under compulsion

and we would get more info in the future. Body language of the rest of the

"elders" was conspicuous. No confidential survey. no nuttin.

A total schamozzle. A mate is gonna send me a pic of the survey they got

and I will try and post it as soon as I get it, he said it was about direct debit stuff.

Comment; " this is in fact what sets us apart from religions of christendom, we do not solicit,

pledge or tithe contributions, contributions are made free of any duress, truly a remarkable provision".

Stand back and wait for the invitation to the second school after the meeting,,,,, I'll be there, bet your

left knacker on it. What's gotta be said is gotta be said,,,, there needs to be a voice in the wilderness.

New Atlanta Assembly Hall Has raised 3.4 million Dollars... GONE

they announced last week that the new atanta assembly hall has thus far raised 3.4 million dollars.

my local told that will become the society's come may 1. i wonder how that will go over with the ones who have been contributing to this fund..

!.4 Million pales into insignificance when I do some simple arithmetic.

Don't get me wrong, many bro's are becoming more disgruntled globally

and it's sad their plans are being shattered.

However, based on the average contribution of some nearby congs of AU$4.50

per pub per week including ww work, kh and ass hall construction, and not including local contributions

based on figures posted on notice boards. lets say, 7 mill pubs x $4.50 per week = AU$31,500,000 per week

or AU$1,638,000,000 per annum. Should be able to whack up a few flashy branches for that amount.

You can juggle figures to say anything you want I know, but, you can't answer the questions that arise.

just thinking out loud. Ha ha, typing out loud.

explanation being that it's closer to the transport networks.
