  Do all religions think there's is the only true one?

  is there any religions out there that actually think that any religion is good as long as you worship?.

  or do they all think the other religions are under the control of satan/the devil.. funny, i knew that the jw's felt that way but never really thought about the other religions.. is there any humble enough to admit they don't have all the truth and aren't any better than any other religion?.

  that's the one i want to join... snoozy.

  Religion is a business. You are a customer who is "purchasing" membership into the Religion. With that purchase you receive a number of things.

  1. Identity

  2. Membership

  3. A Social Network

  4. A packaged belief system

  5. The "prize" in the crackerjack box, which is the special thing only available through that religion. Nirvana, The New System, Heaven, Eden, Reincarnation, life everlasting as a mindless human devoid of emotions, passions, desire, ambitions and thought, or whatever rediculous prize they are presenting.

  6. The most compelling thing religion actually provides is fulfilling a unique psychological need some people have. That is why most people who do not actually completely agree with what the religion teaches, they stay with it. There is something they find fulfilling in the relationship with the religion.

  It has nothing to do with Truth. It has nothing to do with God. It is a business relationship. There are those of us who chose not to subscribe because we do not see the value in this relationship. We see it for what it is.

  "people are theists or atheists for a variety of different reasons - good and bad, rational and irrational.

  but when i took the time to talk to atheists, i realized that most of them were atheists because they wanted to believe in reality.

  they cared about the truth and would rather believe the truth, however difficult, than a delusion, however easy.

  There is no such thing as "Truth" as it relates to Religion. It is an incorrect usage of the word, the the WBT Religion are chronic abusers of that word. Truth is something concrete, irrefutable, demonstrable to any reasonable person. Religions cannot make that claim. Nothing that religion claims to touch, the nature of man, the nature of God, where we came from, where we are going etc,,,, is provable. It is all a matter of relative opinion.

  It is tantamount to argueing about someones favorite color. Instead of the question about truth, each of us should care and pursue that which actually makes sense to us as people.

  As Far as JW's and Thanksgiving go...

  it's one of the most confusing holidays to jw's.

  it doesn't specify who to give thanks to, it's a u.s. holiday that is semi-patriotic and semi-religious but not necessarily either one.. i suppose jw's should go out of their way to avoid giving thanks this thursday so jehovah doesn't get pissed at them for being so slightly normal worldly and maybe accidentally smite them if armageddon starts this thursday..

  Personally, I think all of the holidays are important. Being raised in a witness environment I know all the bull crap that is attributed to the holidays, including the attempt to say that they are "pagan" etc,,,, However my entire witness family were hypocrites that hated each other.

  We decided to start our own tradition of embracing the holidays in all thier glory (just our kids and us) and everyone else can go rot in hell as far as I am concerned. We really love the tradition of the family meal with all the trimmings for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I now love christmas music (I am deprogramed) as it is a representation of family, love, hope and reflection.

  I feel so sorry for all of you trapped in a controlling mind cult, but it is a choice that you make. I only hope you can find the strength with in yourself one day to look outside of the fishbowl and ask the really, really important questions objectively. There is a great and wonderful and real world outside, one worth sharing with your loved ones.

  I have an open invitation to any dubbers to stop by my house when the world starts to end and give me the "I told you so" speech. I am waiting, and waiting and waiting and waiting. By the way, I and mine keep living and living and living. I know that drives the dubbers crazy, since they are so anxious to see all humanity exterminated by "their God". My God and me are doing just fine.

  How to prepare for a JC defense

  many of you have heard this recording, but i wanted to post it again for some of you (bottleofwater) that will possibily be in jc's soon.

  rick townsend does an excellent job (imo) of attempting to defend his position to the elders.

  in nearly every category his arguments are stronger.. it is a bit frustrating to listen to because of the elders lack of reasoning ability, but rick is amazing.

  Personally,

  I think you need to come to grips with the fact that they have no authority over you what so ever. They do not represent you before God (if you believe God is real), and they have no power or authority of any meaning in this life. I would let them know that you have judged thier organization to be corrupt and immorral and as such the Witness Organization has been Disfellowshipped from your organization. In other words, dont give them power they dont have. Excercise your power and don't look back. After all they are the ship of fools ruining thier own lives. Let them live with themselves and thier idiodic make believe universe.

  Yes, I got it. Covering your eyes and ears do not make the reality go away. Which is a sympton that affects blind Religionists, they are not interested in getting confronted with the truth, rather they are interested in no upsetting the emotional applecart they are pulling and at all costs.

  By the way, I was a well experienced Witness, served at headquarters and have no problem having an honest conversation with no agenda.

  Mada,

  You need to know that the JW's are a destructive contolling cult. What is it in your life that is driving you give up your own sense of reason? Do you not see that witnessism is an "end of the world" religion established as an off-shoot of Adventism. Since it's inception in the 1800's the leaders have falsly predicted the end of the world too many times to count and have led simple minded people to ruin thier lives by making poor life choices (because the end is near).

  You need to realize the difference between the phony and flowery rhetoric and the reality of this religion. It is not as it appears to be.

  My advise is run and run fast,,,,

  I think that is a valid question. No one should speak with 100% certainty about matters of opion, and that is what religion is - all a matter of opion and not fact. I too think that all witnesses should ask themselves the question - what if the Witness Religion/belief system is not true? What if the very foundation of your lifes decisions and future is false, namely that thier is no end of the world coming?

  That is a devastating revelation too difficult for most to entertain and hence the reason why they never really address it. I personally have family that have literally *issed thier entire lives away, in miserable relationships, living without realy joy and hope because they are waiting for this great event that will never come.

  It is tragic, but choices do have consequences.

  Thankfully No. I am glad to say I am a fully adjusted, mentally healthy and happy functioning person who has reconciled the questions that was always told that only Witnesses have the answer to.

  I was forced to wipe my white board clean of everything I was told was "true" and start completely over with assembling a new belief system. This one was built using my God Given brain and instincts. It has not let me to any organized religion. But I have a vantage point now I never had before in looking at Religion's.

  I can only hope that other's follow the trail that I have covered.

  Confusion

  okay so i'm very very very close to presenting all my evidence for why i no longer want to be a jw to my parents and my wife.

  we will be together just the 4 of us during the christmas season as we have that time off.

  i've gathered enough information in the past 12/13 months to do this, 607/1914, birthdays, faithful & discreet slave, cult mind control/fear, false prophecies, preaching, etc.. but one thing i am still unsure of or have trouble understanding/explaining is the true answer to some things in revelation.. i know many chrisitans believe they are going to heaven, but in my "deprogramming stages" i cant figure out:.

  Dear Confusion:

  It seems to me you had better start from scratch and whiteboard your understanding of the many assumptions that religions make. It seems you are automatically accepting the ideal that there is an end of the world event coming. Why do you accept that premise?

  I always recommend that people start with a fresh slate and ask yourself, what can I prove to myself that may be factual and actually makes sense to me.

  I think you will find that journey leads to real enlightenment free from the chains and entanglements of man made religions,,,,,,
