it has been a real journey.
going from a devout jw, to having a close call with a loved one possibly needing a transfusion, to researching the heck out of everything, to letting it rest and go back to sleep for a while, to moving states and almost going crazy knowing all the bs they were speaking from the platform.

a jw came to my door a while back and used wooly mammoths as evidence for noah's flood.
he was a bit older, so i thought this must be some oddball out-of-date teaching of jehovah's witnesses.
i could remember something in the insight book about frozen mammoths, but not much else.

my family, and i, were on our way to my wife's brothers house today, which is the families christmas tradition.
we open presents in the morning, and at around 10:30, we head over to my brother in laws for breakfast/brunch, with all the family.. so, as we loaded some presents up in the car, and we all jumped, and drove away, at the end of my block, jehovahs witnesses!
It was discouraged here (70s), because it would alienate people and was also considered highly disrespectful. Maybe it's a Canadian thing, Clambake.

We have a variety of regional dialects here. In the city, I guess we sound like Californians (that's what people thought when I was in CA "are you from here? You have no accent,"). But we just watch too much TV, that's my theory, though I always wondered why we sounded 'just like those kids on the Brady Bunch'.
If you drive 100+ klicks south, the accent is thick, often hard to understand, with strong German influences (more what I would call a regional dialect, rather than an accent; ie, different words/terms.) . Go 100+ klicks in the other direction (my family home) and it's another different way of speaking.
Hop over the causeway to the island culture of my province, and you will 'stick out like a sore thumb' - everyone from The Hawk to Nart' Sydney will know you're a mainlander. Their speech is most colourful! : D
We don't say 'eh'; we end our sentences with 'right?' And i never heard the word 'hoser' before the McKenzie Bros. movie came out in theatres (Strange Brew). :P
There's French here (Acadian and just horrid to a Parisian - the dialect is hard to understand - France french is much easier - lol, probably because I studied it for 10 years)..
Aussies are the hardest to imitate. I'm somewhat of a mimic, and can do many 'accents', but not AU.
GB (the island) has so many accents & dialects! Even languages (thinking Welsh and Gaelic at least).. Would love to visit some day, and explore my Welsh & Cornish roots.
I can't recall anyone on Seinfeld that had what i'd think of as NYC accent, except for George's mother, Estelle Costanza "George! What are you doing, George!" in that screechy voice. hehehe
Oh, and we are the home of the Trailer Park Boys, which is a good representation of the local culture. hehehe
it's been at least a couple years since i've posted anything on here, and much longer than that since when i was active.
ten years ago i first came here all in turmoil over my disillusionment of my beliefs.
i've been through lots of ups and downs since then.
I don't want any part of it. I thought I could live with it, before. I thought I could compromise. But I was wrong. I was wrong about myself and my ability to stagger on in the wilderness of my own spiritual void, forever and perfectly alone. I have grown numb, laying at her side in bed. Spooning her and feeling the softness of her skin and the warmth of her body, but none of the relief of having arrived at where I need to be after out wandering for so long.
This made me feel for you, the heartache. You'll figure it out, whatever's best. <3

does anyone have a copy of the boe letter directing publishers to not go into apartment complexes and/or condominium complexes with no soliciting signs?
i ask because yesterday and buttheaded jw (that obviously had no idea who i am or my past) was knocking on doors in our condo complex.
he would have had to drive past a sign which clearly states "no solicitation or material distribution.".
SIAR - that would have been like my father - he always took the route of 'respect the other person'. I have often wondered why he 'stepped down'. There is no room for common sense and respect for the person, in the JWS.
