35 Years Ago Today - John Lennon - Peace Advocate was Murdered
by flipper inin this age of violence with the san bernardino and france massacres sometimes it's good to reflect on the wise words of the peace advocates among us who proposed a better solution in bringing a more civil society to our universe.
john lennon, martin luther king jr. - people who stood up for equal rights and world peace and denounced violence and war - no matter how that violence occurs.
please feel free to comment on stories of john lennon on this thread and feel free to post any you tubes of his music that you may have enjoyed through the years.

LoveUniHateExams,
Agreed. I was in my late 20s, and I had no idea. Had only heard the top 40 stuff. He could really sing the blues, had some real chops on his Rock'n Roll album.

I was not a John Lennon fan. One of my besties, Steve, called in sick to work the next day. He used to come to our house every weekend, and we'd play cards or Risk, have a few, and he told me that he took the day off because of JL. He was grieving.
It had not occurred to me, how much he was loved. Over the next few months, Steve 'educated' me on John Lennon, the good, the bad and yes, the ugly. It was profoundly moving to me, to learn his story, and changed my life in a way that is hard to define. I guess you could say that my transformation from enforced-JWism to hippie and authentic self, felt compete for the first time. I still had a long way to go with therapy (LOL), but yeah.
So, that's my John Lennon story.
I wish Band on the Run was still on the board, she has some great stories from NYC, and her love of JL.

Anyone who is a fan of John Lennon or the Beatles is very aware of his darker side. He's not Christ, ya know! So he had issues. *shrugs*
Favorites ... two that I relate to, and that last one, well, just because (it's a secret).

It's true. During my recent hospitalization, I got in touch with my father again, and found out what is "really" going on. My mother has dementia, and he is her caregiver 24-7. She hasn't even been diagnosed, but quite sure it is Alzheimers.
In spite of her abuse and such, I feel so bad for her. Her greatest fear was to lose her mental faculties. How ironic and sad. He asked me to call her, saying she cries about me not being around. So I did. She sounds so weak and out of it........ "It's really you, dear? Does your father have your number?" She doesn't remember that she is the one who didn't want me around. This dementia explains a lot (see my older thread re the cray-cray that went on a few months ago).
I feel so bad for them ........... in order to get to one mtg. a week, my father has one of our WORLDLY relatives come and sit with Mother. Where are their brothers and sisters? Hypocrites! My parents have always been the FIRST to help others,. took a whole family into our home to live because they were in need (clueless), fostering a JW kid who had been abused, billeting families for the annual DC held in our city, and on and on. They are not angels, and yes, I grew up with abuse. But in the context of their sick world, they helped a lot of people. And now that they need help, where is #1 son? Where is the JW family? GONEI feel pity and sorrow for the older ones. It's disgusting.

EdenOne, I'll check that one out for sure.
It was just last week, there was a thread about your least favorite Bible character, and Job was one of mine. Sheer coincidence that my roomie showed me the vid tonight.

I find it a bit shocking. I was a JW in the 70s, and that was not practiced in this region. unless it came in the 80s.
That would be socially unacceptable here in the boonies, and I can't imagine what kind of reception they would get. Probably something akin to, "Are you out of your fookin' mind?!"

You think the light may have come on in the mind of a few JW's?
by James Mixon inisis or isil believe they are the key agent of the coming apocalypse.. jw's , we are warning folks of the coming day of jehovah.. isis, their purpose to spread a totalitarian caliphate throughout the world.. jw's "if you are not with us you are against us".. isis, polarize muslims against one another, to incite internal divisions.. jw's shunning..

We also concluded that those still in have NO INTEGRITY, they do not have any regard for that which is True.

Muslims vs. JWs as friends
by Driving Force inthis is not meant to be a controversial discussion, but just mentioning what has happened to my daughter.. i personally started my fade early this year 2015, it has resulted in my losing all my so called jw friends and the brake-up of my marriage.
when i split up with my wife, she asked our daughter who she would like to live with, my daughter decided to live with me, and also abandoned the cult.. recently my daughter told me that she is very disappointed with the congregation of jehovah's witnesses because she thought she had friends there, but now she has realized that it was all conditional, not a single one of them has even remotely tried to keep contact with my daughter, she is 15, not baptized and never a publisher.. now yesterday she met up with a jehovah's witness friend who is in another congregation.
this friend is also 15, baptized since she was 14, a very dominant elder father, and has virtually no association outside jw circles, and also internet access is banned at home.

What Nic said ^^^
And don't feel ashamed - you got out, and got your daughter out before she got hitched and kids, etc. and stuck "in" herself.
; )

EDIT: She is 14, and I just had a thought. "Mean girls" are for real, and she should be prepared for high school. Watch "Clueless" together, which is a great adaptation of Jane Austen's "Emma", and maybe a conversation about the vagaries of high school. Just a thought.

every answer given is in favor of the Submissions of the Society laywers, and I think that members now, are scared to receive warning points, and to get kicked out by the moderators.
We must keep reporting the facts here, so that JWS who want to know the reality of what is happening will be able to read transcripts, etc.
and you can't experct that they will accept other opinions with open arms...on their forum.
That is correct. Any lies they choose to tell in order to cover up the facts, will be considered Theocratic Warfare (TM).
