As early as the second issue of the Watch Tower, in August 1879, Brother Russell stated: “‘Zion’s Watch Tower’ has, we believe, JEHOVAH for its backer, and while this is the case it will never beg nor petition men for support. When He who says: ‘All the gold and silver of the mountains are mine,’ fails to provide necessary funds, we will understand it to be time to suspend the publication.” Consistent with that, there is no begging for money in the literature of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Showing practical wisdom is a protection. During times of relative economic prosperity, it may be possible to put aside something for a rainy day—a time of need. In ancient times the God-fearing man Joseph distinguished himself as “a man discreet and wise” by saving up foodstuffs for the whole land of Egypt during a time of plenty. When the land was later struck by famine, Joseph’s actions provided for not only the Egyptians but also his own family.—Genesis 41:33-36.
Being modest in our consumption can also serve as a protection. We can save money and reduce stress by not constantly pursuing the latest gadget, fashion, or entertainment—a course that adds little or nothing to our genuine security. In fact, as already noted, the more material possessions a person has, the greater the possibility of suffering theft or loss.—Luke 12:15.

Any elders out there? How to Local needs talks work?

so a local needs talk was lovingly given at our hall last week that i'm positive targeted me specifically.

it had to do with missing meetings for work.

they even had a demo on what we should do if our boss asks us to stay overtime on a meeting night (basically say "no" and risk losing your great job which you have no desire whatsoever to lose)... so i'm aware that there's a sort of protocol the elders follow when someone in the hall needs to work on something.

Would it be good enough for them if I say I go to a different hall to make up the meetings I miss?

For me this worked. You could also tell them, that in your cong is no sister who fits to to, so you have to visit other congs to look for a sister.

i have lots of wt literature that i want to get rid of, and i know that a lot of the literature is "valuable" in the sense that we need to have a record of what was said and when... and hopefully, all the pictures.. one of the least well-preserved of wt literature is the yearbooks.

they contain valuable information that is not on the wt library... for example, all of the pictures of the many jw's, or the charts and data, or the daily text.. .

so, atlantis, or anyone who wants it, i am willing to ship the yearbooks to you with the condition that you will scan them and provide them for the entire community, and you pay for the shipping.anyone willing to take them?.
