But more equipment was needed. For that reason Brother Balzereit asked Brother Rutherford for permission to buy a rotary press. Brother Rutherford saw the necessity and agreed, but on one condition. He had noticed that over the years Brother Balzereit had grown a beard very similar to the one that had been worn by Brother Russell. His example soon caught on, for there were others who also wanted to look like Brother Russell. This could give rise to a tendency toward creature worship, and Brother Rutherford wanted to prevent this. So during his next visit, within hearing of all the Bible House family, he told Brother Balzereit that he could buy the rotary press but only on the condition that he shave off his beard. Brother Balzereit sadly agreed and afterward went to the barber. During the next few days there were several cases of mistaken identity and some funny situations because of the “stranger” who was sometimes not recognized by his fellow workers.
oh, yes, the society even admitted they had a problem with their leaders.
a january 1, 1986 watch tower article (p. 13) stated: “shocking as it is, some who have been prominent in jehovah’s organization have succumbed to homosexuality and child molesting.” .
in the watchtower article, they didn’t disclose the rest.
@ ToesUp
The number of partakers includes those who mistakenly think that they are anointed. Some who at one point started to partake of the emblems later stopped. Others may have mental or emotional problems that lead them to believe that they will rule with Christ in heaven.

12 Shocking as it is, even some who have been prominent in Jehovah’s organization have succumbed to immoral practices, including homosexuality, wife swapping, and child molesting. It is to be noted, also, that during the past year, 36,638 individuals had to be disfellowshipped from the Christian congregation, the greater number of them for practicing immorality. Jehovah’s organization must be kept clean! (1 Corinthians 5:9-13) This is a time for congregation elders, ministerial servants, and indeed all our brothers and sisters to avoid any circumstances that could lead to immorality. Loyalty to Jehovah’s standards will be rewarded, as Psalm 97:10 states: “O you lovers of Jehovah, hate what is bad. He is guarding the souls of his loyal ones; out of the hand of the wicked ones he delivers them.”
Even more shocking for me is that the GB only refers to the congregations here. Not a word from the branch offices or about the governing body. Denial, denial, denial.
Never ever would they do this.
as all jw's and awakened ex-jw's know, the very existence of the religion is dependent on people's belief that the "holy trinity" of the wtbts, the ccojw, and the governing body (aka the organization) were personally selected by god/christ.. 1) mr. rutherford claimed that this divine choosing occurred circa 1919, and that all anointed members were personally chosen by god/christ to be the faithful slave.
2) in 2013 this long-held, "profound scriptural truth" was discarded by apostates in brooklyn (the present-day governing body) when they personally decided that only gb members were chosen by god/christ to be the faithful slave.

... for example, if you and I lived in the first-century and you asked me to prove that the apostle Paul was hand-picked by Jesus, how you would you like a person to go about proving that to you?
Easy. Paul could do miracles to give prove:
(Acts 14:8-11) 8 Now in Lysʹtra there was a man sitting down whose feet were crippled. He was lame from birth and had never walked. 9 This man was listening to Paul as he was speaking. Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well, 10 said with a loud voice: “Stand up on your feet.” So the man leaped up and began walking. 11 When the crowds saw what Paul had done, they cried out in the Lyc·a·oʹni·an language: “The gods have become like humans and have come down to us!”

i just got so angry coming across this quote from the wt, shortly after raymond franz was disfellowshipped:.
one who has been a true christian might renounce the way of the truth, stating that he no longer considers himself to be one of jehovah’s witnesses or wants to be known as one.
when this rare event occurs, the person is renouncing his standing as a christian.

14 One who has been a true Christian might renounce the way of the truth, stating that he no longer considers himself to be one of Jehovah’s Witnesses or wants to be known as one. When this rare event occurs, the person is renouncing his standing as a Christian, deliberately disassociating himself from the congregation. The apostle John wrote: “They went out from us, but they were not of our sort; for if they had been of our sort, they would have remained with us.”—1 John 2:19.
Even worse when they say they left Jehovah:
*** w06 9/1 p. 21 When a Loved One Leaves Jehovah ***
If you have left Jehovah, now is the best time to return.

14 and this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.. .
19 go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that i have commanded you.
and behold, i am with you always, to the end of the age.”.
(John 12:5-7) 5 “Why was it this perfumed oil was not sold for three hundred denar and given to the poor people?” 6 He said this, though, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief and had the money box and used to carry off the monies put in it.
JWs do not follow jesu's footsteps.
JWs have no money box for the poor - and the bible is very clear in this point.
