Come on WALES....

if you are romantic, and believe in the underdog, then tonight is an occasion when an extraordinary sporting achievement can become reality.

i am not saying it's as great an achievement as man landing on the moon, but i hope this thread continues after tonight and concludes with wales beating germany in the final on sunday.

now that really would be an achievement more remarkable than man landing on the moon,,.. anyone else watching the game tonight?.

Wales lost 0:2 yesterday.

Today France playes against Germany.

The winner today will play against Portugal on sunday.

mark sanderson gives a talk regarding his visit to belgium for the memorial this year and was travelling from korea to munich to brussels, belgium on the day of the belgium terrorist attacks.he cannot wipe the smirk on his face as he relates his experience, with no regard whatsoever of all those unfortunately affected by the attacks.

in fact, he personally found god's hand affecting him personally, allowing him to attend the memorial as planned and a kh dedication.he is that privileged during his flight travels that internet was available to him, enabling him to catch up on current news and to contact branch's.

What to say? I Don't want to go to meetings anymore?

so it has been a couple of months since me and my family have attended a meeting.

we have received a few calls and visits.

but what do you say when people ask "where have you been"?

Ask back: "Who spread the rumor, I would not attend the meetings?"

Not going into THIS hall doesn't mean, you don't attend at all.

Maybe you are going to a different hall. So there judgement isn't OK.

This works for me thince 3 years.

And not one JW asked more questions like "what hall you are going".

WT on Discipline

the watchtower has always been deceptive in that it kinda says what sounds right - but what it really means is obvious to the rank and file.like in the x-files when the gov keeping "plausible denial" at all times.. this month highlights an article to help parents - "teaching children to obey".. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/g201505/teach-children-obedience-bible/.

first off that phrase offends me - i know the wt feels children are "arrows" for fathers to aim, and not people who are to be nurtured to become their own unique person making choices that are right for them when they mature.

and - they love the word obey!

Is the WT against that? Well they may say if questioned that - no we are not saying to hit your kids - maybe, but look at the scripture they use to defend their stance on discipline. Prov 23:13

Official WT doctrine:

A rod is a symbol of authority. At Proverbs 13:24, it refers to parental authority. In this context, employing the rod of discipline does not necessarily mean spanking a child. Rather, it represents the means of correction, whatever form it may take. In one case, a rebuke kindly given to a child may be sufficient to correct improper behavior. Another child may require a stronger reproof. “A rebuke works deeper in one having understanding than striking a stupid one a hundred times,” says Proverbs 17:10.

Oh dear ,did I touch your belief system?

just been thinking about things that happened when i was in the jws that made me realise that i was waking up .. bit of history first ,my mother brought me up as a mormon from the age of about 4 till about 12 ,saw alot of things that even puzzled me as a kid and knew the lds church could not be right (like pressuring my mother to pay the 10 percent tithe that she had accrued while dad was out of work for three months with no income}.. one bug that i had then was that they treated "negro" people differently,coul'dnt marry whites at the temple, hold the ministry etc the prophets back then taught this and changed some things later.. years later when i became a witness i sometimes would talk about this with other jws and point out that the prophets had changed their teachings and asked the question "so who got the teaching wrong , the prophets or god?

it was amazing to see their faces ,always seemed to be the same ,it was as though they realised that this could be the same situation in the the "truth" and did'nt want to think about it ,and really with all the changes in recent years ,this question should be asked bt jws today to test their belief system which is based on a group of men which changes all the time over the years and so does their teachings.. wish the internet and information had been around when i was becoming a jw i probably would have put it to good use and never become a jw ,but for those today ,use it well and your critical thinking and the road away from mens teaching will be swift.

For a still in JW the teachings never changed.
They hate the word "change" in this context.

JW Answer: ALL core teachings are still the same. And for some small things - there was brighter light (NOT NEW light) . The light always geht brighter and brighter and this is consistent with the bible.

You can't argue with a (still in) witness - that's my experience with my parents.

Hello all, RC video convention times and duration

so i have no choice but to go to the cool-aid fest rc.

my question is this....do any of you know on what days the videos will show, for how long and which ones?.

my plan is leave my seat with my son's when the bunker video comes on and more videos that are stronger with the.
