we've had a few threads these past couple days about how the wt does not take care of its own, how there's no love in the congregations, how they do no charitable works (supposedly because they don't want to produce "rice christians"), and how they believe that in these last days, the literature is the most important thing people need today, this wonderful life-saving spiritual food.... right?
well, take a look at this recent day text:.
- from examining the scriptures daily - monday, november 23, 2015 - .
Keep Your Motives Pure: What motivates you to persevere in the foreign-language field? Likely it is your love for Jehovah and for people.
.... and definitely not the search for a spouse ...
.... and in no case the desire for a warmer climate ...
.... and in no case the wish, to have an easygoing search-work in the foreign-language field ...
so i studied with this guy who is now an elder in my moms hall.
she has cancer and is black and blue from it.
we are like real family so i invite him over for drinks and pizza.
Beth Sarim
The only phone call you get from an elder is inquiring about a ''field service'' report. Just mechanical, canned , repetitive, it's just exactly how they can make one feel too, ''cold, rigid and blue''. LOL!!
WRONG. There are some more phonecalls from elders.
Call from elder: "hello brother fastJehu, could you please pick up the older sister "loyal" and drive her in your car to the meeting?"
Call from elder in the fieldservice-group: "hello brother fastJehu, this week we have to clean up the kigndom hall and "we" will do it at 12 o clock on saturday after fieldservice."
i know it's dumb to think it would make sense.
i've been telling myself to lay low because everytime i ask a question now my husband says i have a negative attitude and i sound like an apostate.
hmmm wonder why.
Pioneerbot
... because everytime I ask a question now my husband says I have a negative attitude and I sound like an apostate. Hmmm wonder why...
Wonder why? The answer is easy: Like all other JWs - your husband has no answers to your legitimate questions/arguments. And so he attacks (like all other JWs - including my parents) the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, rather than attacking the argument directly. It's called "argumentum ad hominem".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem
Pioneerbot
... I asked my husband that and he said of course he's our Father because he made us...
WHO is "us"? The hole mankind - or only the JWs? The WT-article clearly means only the JWs. But the first subheadline "Jehovah is our loving provider" shows clearly, that all arguments fits for the hole mankind.
§ 16 states:
Yet, none of our brothers and sisters lost their life in that case, even though many of them lost all their belongings and their livelihood. When asked how they were faring, everyone, with a broad smile, answered: “All is well, thanks to Jehovah!” They felt God’s love for them.
The WT says NOT, Jehovas in his love protected them. They ONLY FELT God's love for them. But this feeling have the members of other religions also.
All my JW life I learned, today Jehovah is not intervening. And then for example Anthony Morris speaks about Jehovahs intervening - Jehovah protected chickens from disease (from a brother, who went to a convention) and the audience gives him applause. At the end he says: "we're not saying what Jehovah did or did not do." Yes, he is telling what Jehovah did - by just telling the story. No wonder there was hesitation before the applause. Like your husband - they smelled - there is something wrong (it was cognitive dissonance). But a brave JW has no questions - if the GB is talking (or writing a WT).

PioneerbotDefinitely not. Every thinking person is slow with this stuff.
I'm slow with this stuff. Must be because my brain is 10% smaller.
Must be - because this stuff makes no sense.
another vomit-inducing study article.
would just like to highlight a few paragraphs from it (blondie would probably do a more in-depth analysis as usual):.
9 first of all, jehovah reveals the truth about himself.
§12 ... Jehovah thus warned Cain when it was apparent that Cain was on a very dangerous course. Sadly, Cain did not heed that warning, and he suffered for it. (Gen. 4:11-13)
Let me think about this.
Johovas way of showing love was, to warn "the bad boy Cain" and let him live:
*** w92 7/1 p. 9 par. 4 Jehovah, the Impartial “Judge of All the Earth” ***And what was the way to show the love to "the good boy Abel"?
Perceiving Cain’s wrong reaction when his sacrifice was not accepted favorably, Jehovah lovingly warned him of the danger he was in. An old proverb states: ‘Prevention is better than cure.’ Jehovah went as far as he could by warning Cain about allowing his sinful tendency to get the mastery over him. He endeavored to help him “turn to doing good.” (Genesis 4:5-7) This is the first time God called on a sinful human to repent. After Cain showed an unrepentant attitude and committed his felony, Jehovah sentenced him to banishment, tempering this with a decree forbidding other humans to kill him.—Genesis 4:8-15.
Does Jehovah warned Abel so save his life?
Let's review - "what sort of love the Father has given us":
God warned the bad boy and saved his life.
God doesn't warned the good boy - he lost his life.
another vomit-inducing study article.
would just like to highlight a few paragraphs from it (blondie would probably do a more in-depth analysis as usual):.
9 first of all, jehovah reveals the truth about himself.
3 See what sort of love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are. That is why the world does not know us, because it has not come to know him. 2 Beloved ones, we are now children of God, but it has not yet been made manifest what we will be. We do know that when he is made manifest we will be like him, because we will see him just as he is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as that one is pure.
http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/b/r1/lp-e/nwt/E/2013/62/3#h=13:0-13:197
But the WT starts with:
“See what sort of love the Father has given us!”—1 JOHN 3:1.
Who is "us"?
The second part of this vers says: "children of god".
So the article should be read:
“See what sort of love the Father has given to the children of god!”—1 JOHN 3:1.
My understanding is, that the actual teaching says:
God’s love, however, is expressed in more ways than just caring for us physically. He has also elevated and dignified us by giving us spiritual capacity and helping us to satisfy it. (Matthew 5:3) In this way, obedient mankind has the prospect of becoming part of God’s family, his “children.”—Romans 8:19-21.
WT 2014-03-01 : http://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/2014162
and:
*** jr chap. 14 p. 181 par. 25 You Can Benefit From the New Covenant ***Has the GB changed this, because they write in §11:
25 Jehovah’s promise to forgive sins through the new covenant will reach its fullest extent at the end of Christ’s Millennial Reign. Jesus Christ, together with the 144,000 underpriests, will have restored to perfection loyal humans. After the final test, mankind will then be full-fledged members of Jehovah’s universal family. (Read Romans 8:19-22.) For centuries, all have been groaning under the burden of sin. However, Jehovah’s human creation will then have “the glorious freedom of the children of God,” freedom from sin and death.
A loving father is deeply concerned about the future of his children, wanting them to have a real and meaningful purpose in life. Regrettably, most people are in the dark about the future, or they spend their life pursuing goals that bring no lasting benefits. (Ps. 90:10) As God’s children, we feel truly loved because Jehovah has promised us a wonderful future. That gives genuine meaning and purpose to our life.
So a thinking JW must have these qestions, after the deep study of this article:
Are we now God's children?
Are we God's children not until the final test after the 1000 years?
Are God's children in 1. John 3:1 the "sons of god" (the 144.000 - you could think so, if you read the context)?
Maybe the "normal" JW doesn't know the difference in the doctrine about the sons of god and the children of god.
some people point out the subliminal pictures in the wtbts publications but sometimes things are just so obvious, such as the title of the book above.. the person who came up with the title for this book must have had a good old laugh.. interestingly, this book first came out in 1988 and has not been included in the online library but nothing has replaced it.
the org is really going backwards when they ditch old light and cannot come up with anything new.
they are real wankers ;)..

dear all,.
my health took a beating over the years with stress from various sources, not a little from the wt; and dangerous areas of work involving fumes and so on.
the arc also took its toll and i have had recently a heart attack.
Best wishes from the middle of europe.
