Christmas presents--"We get things all year"??
by WTWizard ini have heard that line of rubbish more times from the platform, especially around this time of year.
yet, given the number of children with few or no toys, about 90% of the time, they get little or nothing year round.
sometimes it is because of poverty, often induced because the parents are supposed to cut back on their work and pious-sneer or donate excessive amounts to the worldwide pedophile defense fund (or both).

Tiny procedural change
by Caminante insince i have my own software to track pdf publication uploads and changes on jw.org and simplify publication downloads, i looked behind the reasons why certain publications had been updated this last month (first the know the truth tract in hungarian which i knew of it didn't have any recent textual revisions, and then bible teach book, which had suffered a further update the picture on page 3 was replaced).
i noticed one little procedural change, which 99 percent of the witnesses won't even notice, but the publications printed since the start of this service year no longer have "all rights reserved" on the publishers' page.
first i thought it was a mistake, but it's for real.

About the changes in the bible-teach book have a look here:
The org is inserting an ISBN number into there printings - so the "all rights reserved" is no longer needed - just my thinkings

the name Jehovahs Witnesses
by Crazyguy inok so rutherford came up with the idea to change the name of the true religion of god to jehovah's witnesses based in isaiah 43. and of course ever since the rank and file witnesses have lovingly thought of themselves as gods chosen people.
well some one frogot to mention that in chapter 62 of isaiah gods says his true followers will be called by a new name.
yes newer then the old name almost 20 chapters ago.

"Brother Rutherford told me himself that he woke up one night when he was preparing for that convention and he said, `What in the world did I suggest an international convention for when I have no special speech or message for them? Why bring them all here? And then he began to think about it, and Isaiah 43 came to his mind. He got up at two oclock in the morning and wrote in short-hand, at his own desk, an outline of the discourse he was going to give about the Kingdom, the hope of the world, and about the new name. And all that was uttered by him at that time was prepared that night, or that morning at two oclock. And [there is] no doubt in my mind - not then nor now - that the Lord guided him in that, and that is the name Jehovah wants us to bear and were very happy and very glad to have it. "

Reading through the first bible verses I stopped with Genesis 1:20. I missed the word "souls" in the NWT 2013.
Asking the database gave the following answer:
NWT 1984: 780 times the word *soul*
NWT 2013: 59 times the word *soul*

Trying to overcome my homophobia.
by Julia Orwell ini had a music album by a gay guy before i was a jw and had no problem listening to it.
it's good music.
some of the lyrics are what you might call 'gay', that is there's some talk about boyfriends, gay bars, and queens and the intolerance the artist encountered as a gay man.

Crap App
by outinthemeadows ini downloaded that app (the official thingy) that they call a "library".
i'm sorry but where i come from a library contains loads of books.
this has a few translations of the bible?

On October 7, 2013, Jehovah’s Witnesses launched the Bible study app JW Library. This new app enables users to read the 2013 revision of the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures and five other Bible translations, including the American Standard Version and the King James Version. Future upgrades will enable users to download and study Bible-based books, magazines, and brochures.
