an 70-year-old man went to his doctor's office to get a sperm count.. .
the doctor gave the man a jar and said, "take this jar home and bring.
back.

if jws "suffer" persecution it will make them feel as if they are fulfilling bible prophecy.
they like thinking and believing that they are chosen to be abused and persecuted.
if any political upheavals occur, they look at it as a sign to say that the end is near.
It's covered any way you look at it. If they're persecuted, it's cuz they're gods people. If they arent, it's from his protection on his happy people.
If the numbers dwindle, it's the love of the greater number cooling off. If there is an increase, it shows jahs blessing. Ya just can't loose if you're a witness!
with the proliferation of blogs and forums like this one, ex-jws writing books and protesting, lawsuits, exposure of abuse, pedophilia, and mind control, what more needs to be done to sink this cult and kill it?
do the ex-jehovah's witness have enough momentum to destroy any remaining credibility the watchtower society has, or perhaps, bankrupt it?
I'd be interested to know how big a threat people on the "inside" feel the internet is. Are the elders and on up the hierarchy worried? With all the warnings, I'd think they were worried. Do regular pub's feel the threat?
i'm curious, when you made your decision to leave the org.
did you do it before or after looking at this kind of internet sites?.
in my case i made my decision without ever looking any of this websites.
I left way before I found this site. I still thought they might be right but just couldn't do it any more. First I found H20, then FreeMinds, then this forum. Being here let me finally cut those last doubts.
Thanks Simon!
this weekend i saw the body worlds 2 exhibit in toronto.
for those of you who aren't familiar with it, the exhibit features dead bodies of humans and animals.
using a process called plastination the specimens are preserved.
We had plasticized brains in our office last week, I kid you not. (I work in a University office with neuro-specialists.)Didn't care to touch them. I feel a certain interest but don't know if I could handle the exhibit.
just want to share what i've uncovered on this and verify my conclusion!.
it was my impression that birthdays were banned shortly after christmas was in 1926. the proclaimers book is very vague about this, implying that the ban shortly followed the christmas ban.
i searched the 1940s watchtower magazines and uncovered this blurb in the jan 1, 1940 watchtower, p. 16, under "field experiences": cleveland, ohio: "pardon me for intruding on your precious time, but i just cant help letting you know how much i appreciate the phonograph which came to me on the morning after the 8th, which was my 80th birthday.
I think there were spaces for your birthday and those of friends in the old year text books. Can't remember when they were stopped, but I think certainly after Christmas was banned.
background
i have been fading away, and considered fully "inactive" for over 2 years now.
my wife is still a very active jw, and she brings my 2 children (5 & 3) to the meetings and service on a regular basis.
A negative I see is that if your kids continue to go to the KH and "make a stand" eventually, they will shun you and you'll have little influence over them. It's a delecate balance.
Emma
got home last night from being away all weekend for my mom's funeral.
in our absence, it has been raining very heavily, and now we are just inches away from flooding in our area.
this morning, i've just learned we all narrowly missed hitting stage 2 flooding.
I hope it doesn't happen. I'm sure you know when to leave the area if necessary.
Thinking of you,
Emma

religion today .
Great news! One day, they won't be able to explain things away any more.
Am I right that the news is out before it got to the congregations?
yesterday (monday) i was off school and work, and i told my mother i would go out in service.
so monday morning i got up, got dressed, drove to the hall, and there was no one there.
i fell asleep in my car while i waited, woke up to wave at a brother, then fell back asleep, and then woke up, looked around and left.
Your mom's in a cult. That would have been me ten years ago; it didn't have to make sense. I can't believe the person I used to be. No wonder I was so unhappy. I can't imagine it any more; my friends can't begin to imagine the person I was then; it bears no resemblance to who I am. Wouldn't it be nice to know who your mom would be if she weren't part of the wts.
I'm sorry for the way you were treated but glad you have real friends.
