For some reason, I love autumn . I always did as kid. Warm days, and cool nights, changing leaves, sunny days of the Indian summer or Eastern European equivalent called "grandma summer". Adding Halloween and Thanksgiving into the season, only increases my love for this time of the year. I find Thanksgiving to be the nicest American holiday, and true heritage of the nation. This weekend we will do some decoration for Halloween, and carve pumpkins. I got couple plastic gravestones and I need to buy a tons of candies.
Another reason I love autumn weather that some of my shrubs blooms in the fall. I have camellias that bloom either in the fall or spring, but only the fall one are scented. I have several species that are rare with a huge peony flowers that squirrels love to pick and eat. Also my encore azaleas only bloom in the fall until the first frost. Daphne reblooms after it goes dormant over the summer.
Do any of you doing anything special as a family during the fall? Do you carve pumpkins and decorate for Halloween?

Another Resolution
by truthlover inhas anyone on the board been at the recent meeting where they are asking for more money to help out the co's, insurance and health and travel??
this is supposed to go into a general fund???
they can use it for anything they want..... oh, and also, if you can give more, it would help as many congregations may not be able to give - based on number of pubs in each cong.

I know my mom is complaining about the money for CO. He also demands during the visit that local JWs would take him to dinning out. Several times in the past elders asked women in KH to cook for CO, but what I heard, his wife was not very pleased. So they eat out in generally expensive restaurants around the city. -

If there is anything to bible prophecy, keep an eye out on Israel
by EndofMysteries inwhat will be the end game whether in a few years, our lifetime, or hundreds + years from now.
bible prophecy did say israel / jews would be scattered then eventually brought back.
russell was declaring that and it was believed before being changed shortly before it happened.

Some Orthodox Jewish groups do not recognize Israel. On the other hand, Israel has one of the highest percentage of people who are consider themselves atheists in the world. Israel is also a home of many other religions and nationalities who predate the creation of the modern Israel state. Syrian, Armenia, and Greek Orthodox churches exist there for centuries. So it is very multicultural country. There are 5.5 million religious Jews in USA and another million or two who are not affiliated with any Jewish organization.
As Bonsai said above. Israel is one of many states on the this planet. It has its responsibility for its citizens from security to economy. Whatever pertained to ancient era is much irrelevant to day to day living of its citizens, who need job security, economy, social nest, as well military check against potential terrorists. Very a few people are aware that in past 15 years there were widespread strikes or demonstrations in Israel due economic problem, unemployment, cost of living, and corruption.

Some of the advises are good. I would recommend physical activity, like gym and outdoor. Sunlight has wonderful impact on depression and anxiety. Now if you live in the northern hemisphere, fall is a great time to go outdoor. Find a park, forest, or natural area, where you can spent several hours.
I would be hesitant to use over the counter supplements. However, you should see your medical professional and he make advice you to take some medication dealing with anxiety. It is always good to have issues under the care of professional. There is absolutely nothing wrong to seek out doctor and help.

Israel has one of the strongest armies in ME and has the best equipped in the region. Only major possible military threat there could come from Turkey if this country get controlled by Islamists and leaves NATO. However, Turkey is a secular country for almost 100 years. Israel deals with insurgency and various terrorist groups since its foundation almost 70 years. Israel survived much worse.
Russia does not have reason to threaten Israel, and up to 1/4 of population there was born in Russia or has ties there. Russian language is widely spoken in Israel. EU does not have anything against Israel. Jordan is American ally, and Egypt has enough internal problem. Iran is also not interested to go with war against Israel, because it would undermine its position within its country. Dictatorship with low public support seldom go in war because any defeat would swept them.
So do not worry on Israel. Whatever was written in Daniel, Ezekiel happened in the past. No man can predict future 2500 years later.

Did an EX-JW wake you up to TTATT or did you put the effort to wake up yourself?
by John Aquila inhow many of us were woken up by some apostate yelling false prophets at a convention?.
how many of us were woken up by someone holding a sign and yelling, what happened to 1975.
how many of us were coerced to investigate the wt because some ex-jw pulled up a bunch of old watchtowers magazines and told us to read the false predictions?.

I woke up myself. I have not read CoC until decade later after KH as well Vision of Glory by Barbara G. Harrison. I did not had any apostate or ex-JW around me. What woke me up was book study in 1993/1994 of Revelation, It is Grand Climax at Hand. I just could not digest all the BS through this book. I also used this book for field service and study, and more thought I put into it, it was seen less and less as Channel of Truth from God. It occurred me that it is all fabrication, irrational construction, and wrong conclusion. Once I stopped believing it was Channel of Truth communicating with God, I saw it as man-made organization. Why I should stay in made-made organization, so I left. -

The world is having actually opposite problem, which is increasing obesity. In developing world, it reaches dangerous proportions and often the poorest states on this planet suffer with the highest level of morbid obesity. While many are aware of obesity rate in USA, UK, Germany, it is actually far worse in Mexico, Bolivia, Paraguay, Venezuela, but also in Africa and Middle East. (Mali, Mauritania, Egypt, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia). In these countries people have as twice as much of caloric intake than industrial countries of the North. One main issue for the rise of obesity is a consumption of sugar, which became extremely cheap in past 25-35 years.
Famine would return only if there is a catastrophic weather change world-wide, which would disrupt supplies everywhere. Today there is no problem to import fruits from Chile, vegetables from Spain, grain from USA and butter from Denmark anywhere in the world in case of localized food supply collapse.
