  Eighty-Four year old drives her disfellowshipped son to meetings and sits inside Kingdom Hall.

  i have a customer who's son is a jehovah's witness.

  he was disfellowshipped over a year ago.

  this is the second time he's been disfellowshipped.

  Drinking is a huge problem among JWs. Many of them drank heavily. As well as CTD mention, I knew man who died from cirrhosis in my old KH. Sometimes he will get so drunk that he will open doors and yell through entire block, but his wife was extremely orthodox pioneer. My JW uncle drunk a lot as well, but hid it from his family that he crashed at my dad or grandma. Once my uncle was so drunk that he attacked my dad tearing his ear and broke his head, and my dad ended in emergency room to get stitches. When I was kid this uncle often would sleep on the stairs outside the house as my dad would refuse to open the doors for kids safety.
  

  Also in the early 1990's elders got so drunk after program in KH that one of them waddled out and pied on the street right next to bus stop in public.

  Apostate views?

  if a brother is starting to look at material on the internet and starts to have serious doubts about the jw organisation and questions the integrity of the governing body.

  what steps would be taken to by the congregation to readjust his thinking.

  and also if the congregation is not aware of this but he has confided in an individual how would that individual try to help such a brother?.

  My mom is in "Truth" for 40 years. She has accumulated a lot of books and publications, which she got bounded and keeps at her library. She was several times attacked by JWs in her organization and even by my sibling that she is keeping apostate literature which causes her to be critical of new doctrine. They even asked her to surrender her library, but I adviced her to donate to university as a specific study on JW doctrine.

  Just rolling my eyes. I kinda find it insulting form G_K to say that many of us who were associated with JW & WT do not know Bible nor have not read it. Many of the information G_K provides is mashup of various doctrines from WT but reciting biblical verses, but often missing important information all together.

  Additionally, G_K, why you think that this forum is for Christians only or anyone just to hear Christian nonsense? As someone who is married to person of Jewish faith I find it disrespectful to have Christian views to pushed through my throat. To me what is written in the NT does not have any authority and this is NOT your door-to-door field service. If you want to debate your faith, you have to realize that first of all, not everyone is Christian and many ex-JWs are religiously indifferent to atheist.

  Your diatribe reminds me why I have left KH 21 years ago, and why I do not respect Christianity.

  I do not remember the specific publication, but in the late 1980's there was an order to case all personal bible study mini groups. Back in the late 1970's through early 1980's there were Bible studies done at the home. Generally, people would pick a chapter or two and they studied and debate it among the others. Later these bible studies were forbidden. It kinda felt that Bible was apostate literature and we should study only WT literature. I believe these warnings were regular as I have seen them in older publications from 1920's.

  I think there is also assumption that Arabic speaking people are only Muslim. There are also Christian Arabs since the time of late Antiquity and they follow old traditional Christianity. Syrian Christians or Iraq Christians are one of the many Arab speaking Christians.

  why did man go from living 900 years to 90?

  i cant recall the scripture, where it says than only a few men will he live to be 80 years or so, can anyone recall that?.

  so then im wondering, if it is a fact that men lived long years 900 in some cases, for what reason would god limit our lifespan if our time is so short compared to his?.

  how on earth does man go from living 8 and 9 hundred years down to 80 to 100 ?.

  Gods_kingdom very interesting construct on faith that does not have whatsoever base in the OT and NT. As Viviane said, where what book do you got this ideas from? I do not even recall these in the KH study. Jews do not teach it either, nor Catholic church...

  Abusive parent relationship is bad. I was a friend with JW woman who had violent mother, who was known all over the village for her temper. As a small girl she got beat up by her regularly, and her father succumbed to alcoholism. In one of her mom rage, she took a knife a chased her around the house until neighbors had to intervene. What I have heard she moved out, left KH, and never talked to her parents again. Generally there is tendencies for violence and abuse from a father, but I have heard and seen when mothers could turn into monsters.

  40-50 years after saying "armegeddon is right around the corner" we are now making progress!!!.

  Unfortunately, my mom did not plan for retirement, has not savings, so she is surprised to have 80 years knocking on her door. 40 years ago my JW aunt and her extensive family insisted that Armageddon will be just behind the corner. Thanks that my mom worked for 40 years and she gets good pension; and I paid her house off, so she does not have any housing expenses except utilities. I know JWs at her age group, who are totally depended on social welfare and charity because they do not have sufficient social security credits, and no savings. This is in Europe where the social nest is a bit good. I also know several old JWs who use Catholic charity for food deliveries, otherwise, they would starve and live on very low food minimum. My mom tells me regularly that some of her peers envy her stable pension and complain that she worked instead putting Jehovah on first place. Last year elderette attacked my mom for putting only $5 dollars per week into KH fund and she told her that she could afford to put more.
  

  It would be interesting to see how many JWs live in poverty and below minimum earnings in industrialized countries. In the Czech Republic they have the LOWEST education level from all questioned religious groups in decennial censuses. Low education comes hand to hand with poverty. I am not sure how is it in the Western Europe or Northern America, but in ex-communist block these people are on the bottom of social ladder.

  Anti-JW billboard going up in Texas

  the first ever billboard has been crowd funded on reddit and will be going up.

  i'm curious to know if it will cause a spark in any jw's who already have questions or doubts and lead them to research into the child abuse cases and lead them to the thought that the wt and gb are not inspired or gods mouthpiece.

  at the very least it will provide people a topic of conversation and questions to the jw's who knock on their door: "so whats this whole sex abuse in kingdom halls thing about i saw on the billboard down the road?

  well it happened again, i got annoyed at my mom telling me all about the co visit , and i couldn't help myself, i said' oh god mom its like the pope is visiting, all that info can be told with the regular elders you don't need 'special' people .. subjects ensue,.

  she says 'your misled, your so wrong, no one else on the planet has the beliefs that we do, we are the only ones with the truth, i dont follow men, bla bla.. , 40 minuets... , misquotes all over the place, isaiah this and that, yada yada ' j"vah has to have an earthy organization to give us the proper food, bla bla.

  i say ' no jesus is gods mediator, we don't need men and were told not to listen to men for they are imperfect.

  I heard the theology of threefold prophecy in the past outside JWs. I believe it was borrowed from fundamentalist evangelical movements in the 19th century. First prophecy was for Ancient Jews, second for early Christians, and the third prophecy was for a modern times.
