I knew about Luke and Paul since JW times, but I did not know about Mark. However, it is well known that Mark, Luke, and Matthew used the same source when they wrote the Gospel. I have heard and read in the past that letter of Paul are written before the gospels, especially before Luke and John.

Do you believe that we are living in the last days, and why?
by new light init has been a long time.. thanks to jw.org, i was reading some jw material (what does the bible teach i believe).
it was the first time reading a "book study" book in many years and i was blown away by the controlling, cultish writing.
this question especially struck me as manipulative: do you believe that we are living in the last days, and why?.

Every generation believed that they lived in the last days. Every single one. When Alaric sacked Rome in 410, Christians throughout the known world thought that the end was imminent and Jesus will return to replace defeated imperial power. Augustine wrote City of God, and Jerome was figuring out what to do. 1600 years later, some obscure cult claims the same. The end is comming, but individiually for every one of us.

I am back at school to complete my masters, so not much free time. Last year to go. I studied masters years back in topic that my employer paid partially as benefit for my work. I decided to start again in topic I like, so I need to survive one more year of it. While I love to study, I do not like schools. I been always nerd and good student (never had B in my class, never both under and postgrad), but I do not like campus settings, lectures, and writting articles. I like learning new things, I wish I could learn another masters in mathematics, maybe in retirement just for fun.
I love gardening on my backard. Planting blooming shrubs, and turning my place into small oases of peace and tranquality.

I would advice working on your masters that you are about to complete and you can start having baby. You can finish your masters in 4 month pregnancy. Having child at your age is nothing wrong, and the medical prenatal care is excellent than was 20-30 years ago. But I recommend do not postpone your pregnancy. As long you can have your first child by age 35 you will be fine.

Prologos, I would also add meagera.
In my KH all elder wifes were b.ches. Both of my cousins wifes are b.ches who lie and are dishonest. They shun entire JW family from my mom side and deny that we are related. This was case as far I remember as kid (My cousins are 10 years older than I). Elderette of my primary elder was neurotic, emotionally unstable, abused her kids, compulsive, and perfectionalist. Other wifes were immitating the same roles. You could see them sitting up front in the KH, always treated like nobility. These women were different from other women that I like and were really nice. I called these women gray mouses, because these were women who were either widows or did not had JW husbands and were treated by the elderettes as second class JWs.

Did Josephus believe in Jesus as The Christ?
by opusdei1972 inhere is the questioned josephus' text :.
now, there was about this time jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful worksa teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure.
he drew over to him both many of the jews, and many of the gentiles.

If you want to read writting on Josephus, I would recommed Loeb Classical Library which has parallel greek texts with english ones and you can decide on it on yourself.

Jehovah's Witnesses are the only people who don't practice war and who preach worldwide!
by EndofMysteries inthis is what somebody has been telling me, trying to convince me aside from anything one can say or cause reason for doubt, as the evidence that they are the true religion and true people of god.
they are convinced because while 'all other' christian and other religions support war, troops, etc, jw's don't and they are the only one's who carry god's name and preach.
nothing else matters.

Of course JWs do not practice war, they believe that mighty Jesus and his legion will engage with humanity at the battle of Armageddon which will litter entire world with rotting human bodies serving as a food to the birds.

The mind is powerfull tool creating vidid imagination that many can claim as proof and truth. However, science needs to deal with facts and and system of verifications and confirmations. We still do not know everything what is happening in the universe, and deal with unknown phenomena; however, this is not a proof of supranatural events. Catholic countries are regularly engulfed with vision of Virgin Mary and have more sighting of it than any other religion on earth. Medzhugoria in former Yugoslavia is one of the example. Catholic Croats will insist that the sightings in the 1980's were real. I met Bosniak (muslims) and Serbs who disagreed. Spain, Italy, Portugal has more sighting of Virgin Mary than Protestant Saxony, England and Scandinavia. During forcefull catholization of Bohemia in 1648-1742 there was more sighting of Mary than it was during 200 years of Protestantism. Whatever became popular with the minds of the people, there will be always individuals believing that some phenomenas are real.
I have two or three unexplained experiences and I still not will insist that the spirits are real as they could be coincidence or result of imagination. When my biological father passed away, the night it happened, I dreamt to be with him in the car, me driving. Next thing I saw a skeleton with sickle and my father in the dream told me that she came for him. I woke up called home hundreds of miles away to find out that my dad passed the night. I could never explain this, but this does not proof anything that there is afterlife, Grim Reaper, spirits, or out of our dimension some messenger.

Despicable crazy people
by jgnat inthere are some mental illnesses which come with the potential for extreme violence.
i'm not talking the sociopath here who kills without remorse, but those mentally ill people while in the throes of their delusions who are driven to kill.
the outcomes can be horrific.. on december 6, 1989, a lone gunman gunned down fourteen women at a montreal college.

Jgnat, I have not said every family with mentally ill member, nor wanted to generalize. However, family can be crucial for getting mentally ill person treated before something bad happens and than these individuals became responsibility of the state. In the case of Olga Hepnárová that killed 8 people, her family failed the role. They were in denial that something was wrong and did not let her daughter to get institutionalized permanently. Olga was in her teen when she attempted murder, and was 22 when she went on killing spree. She was hang in 1975.
