Hebrew Was The First Language
by Bloody Hotdogs! inaccording to the newest watchtower:.
jehovah communicated with adam in the garden of eden, using human language.
god likely did so in an ancient form of hebrew.

WT claims the Hebrew language for Adam and Eve for decades. I remember these claims 30 years ago when in the 1980's there was an article in WT where Adam named animals in the Hebrew language. As other had said, WT debated it for at least half-century. -

why did the sacrafice have to be so BRUTAL
by Tater-T inwhy did the sacrifice have to be so brutal... i mean what value does that add to the equation of justice.couldn't he jesus have came down and just been slaughtered like a regular sacrifice without the brutal torture.why is justice served by brutalityanyone anyone bueller... lolnow you know i don't like to type for hours but this is always bothered me

From Judaism point of view, Jesus sacrifice is invalid and does not make any sense. It never made sense to me either. Jews do not believe that someone can pay out anyone sin, but only you are responsible for your own sin and inability to uphold the Laws.
We also need to look into the era, when Roman ruled the known world and their execution methods were extremely harsh, brutal, and painful. Idea that person should not suffer through execution is rather modern under influence of the French Revolution and Enlightened thinking. However, until that time for thousands of years, executions were extremely brutal. Modern era starting with a French Revolution needed more efficient way to dispose thousands of people, thus less painful methods were implemented. Guillotine in France between 1792-1795 executed around 35000 people. It would be much more difficult to end lives of so many people if government would have to break victims on wheels.

Let’s Speculate!!!
by John Aquila inyou know the organization is slowly going down.
not as fast as we would wish, but nevertheless it is crumbling.
five (5) year old child baptisms, smaller magazines, child sexual abuse exposed, smaller annual growth, no one wants to reach out, young ones leaving.

Many of you have wishful thinking, but in reality, JWs are not going anywhere. They will be here, but transformed from the religion we had left. Many predicted WT collapse 40 years ago, but suckers into the organization are born in every minute. WT may even prefer smaller organization of loyal followers over larger pack of followers with 20 million people which would be much harder to maintain, indoctrinate, and control. GB would be still well fed and happy with 8 million followers.
One of the issue is that religious organizations tends to outlive its founders for decades and centuries. WT can last very, very long time.

help me understand: My wife seems to be utterly detested by skelletons and skulls. Why?
by goingthruthemotions inso, here i am again....asking more questions to help me understand my wife.
she was brought up in the cult in the 70's and 80's.
so i can only imagine what kind of indoctrination she deals with.

Skeletons had different meaning in different times. Medieval Europe was fascinated with the issue of death after Black Death pandemic and throughout the Catholic world, many charnel houses were build around Europe. These ossuaries were often called the Church of the Bones. They were a reminder to people that life is temporary, while the death is permanent. Bones also symbolized the building block of the human body, so the bones were used in the churches as a building block in true spiritual and religious sense for these people. In the peak of the late feudal era, there were hundreds of these charnel houses around Europe. In Czech Republic there are still several Bone churches open to public. While many people in the 21st century are puzzled by the existence, they were nothing to be feared in the middle ages. I had visited several of them and I really liked them. I think how these people looked, what were their hopes and worries, what they were doing for livelihood, and how they died.

As other had said; run, run, and do not look back. Anyone who is involved with WT and has entire family in it will destroy your life and you will be just wasting it away. The only solution for you and him would be to leave the cult and move on together. Problems dating JW guys are numerous. There will be always the cult on the first place, not the family. Your family would be submission to provide surrounding to the man while he is busy with KH, field service, and bible studies. Not much fun for anything. Nothing to save for rainy days, to plan to grow old together, besides living poverty and destitute. Walk away.

Jesus is not Michael the Archangel here is why
by paradisebeauty inone of the biggest missunderstanding and unbiblical teaching of the jw's is that jesus is michael the archangel.
here is what proffessor anthony buzzard has to say about this:.

The controversy between Jesus and Michael association is old for 2 millennia. In the book "The Truth Behind the Christ Myth" by Pinkham, Mark Amaru is a part on "Essenes expected Michael to incarnate into a body synthesized by the contracting forces of Belial before assuming his earthly role as the prophesied Messiah". Essenes "expected one Messiah to be born who will unite both offices. He would be a kingly Messiah, as well as the priestly Messiah, and he will unite both as the Michael".
Later period in the late antiquity Nestorian split with the official churches was also caused by belief that Jesus was the highest of angels as Michael. JW attempts to copy a theology that was already debated centuries ago as their own.

Life after the witnesses, friends, faith etc
by Theburstbubble inhi everyone, this is my first post so go easy on me :) i have been a witness all of my life (i'm 37) and truly believed it until 3 years ago.
my husband and i had become spiritually weak and over time i began to question more and more until i came to the conclusion that the witnesses were not the true religion but just one of many religions and that if god is there then there are many paths to get to him.
anyway, i've battled with keeping going as my husband still believed and i didn't want to be in a divided household as we have a young daughter and thought it would be very confusing for her (and us).

I had changed my life by starting living in another country. Went to school in years, when others were starting to climb in the career ladder. I did not received my B.S. until I was over 30. I earned two graduate certifications afterwards and now I am six months from completing my Master's well over 40. Nothing is stopping me and my life after KH is fulfilled.
People are good and bad as in the KH. I met genuine people outside KH. I am married to Jewish person and my in-laws are great. While I am very doubtful of others people intention and I do not trust to people, I am friendly enough to have friends which we camped in the woods, shared beach house, or went ski.
Question of God, faith, and religion will be your personal struggle. There is not much someone can advice you as you need to deal with it with your own feelings, beliefs, and upbringing. Everyone is different. Some people joined other churches, while other became atheist. Either way, it will be your own personal journey.

I am so glad you have a happy ending! I am in similar situation with my mom. Last week I had find out that she did not have money for Avastin eye shots because she went to JW convention, which whipped her some saving that she had put on the side for the treatment and who knows how much she had donated there. My JW cousins told her not to worry if she goes blind because she will get new eyes after Armageddon. Additionally, she was told that if she goes for hip surgery in the fall, she will miss her chance to survive in Armageddon, because she would be too busy recovering in outpatient rehab center. At least my mom is receiving a medical treatment and had her doctor appointment already.
Someone already called from her KH to inquire if I am still at my mom's place today. At least they could ask her about my mom's health. Hell no! It is so pathetic that JWs gives others such BS advice. Stupid cult.

All the advices are right on. You are approaching an age, where you will become a legal adult. Start preparing for your own independence, think of your future, career, education, and people outside WT cult.
